In Sweden we have MOT inspections every other year, and now they are on my case about my D200 not being a V8 truck originally. It´s supposed to have a straight six engine, or I will have to change to discbrakes etc + an expensive re-titleing of the car. (Sweden is the last soviet-state )
But I have a rusty 1989 Jeep Cherokee with a nice 4.0 I6 standing around. Will this engine fit in my D200?
I bought a car from the junk yard here in California and they put me through a lot of crazy stuff, brake inspection, light inspections, highway patrol inspection. I am glad It has no air bags because there is an inspection for that as well and every inspector charges his fees. Also the usual smog inspection,of course. Now they lost the paperwork so they want me to start all over again.Too much red bureaucratic tape! They close on Fridays so the rest of the week the lines of people waiting go around the building and it's about a three hour wait.
I have often thought of that. Does a 4.0 fit into an old dodge sweptline? I am sure that it should. And you have electronic ignition and fuel injection. A 4.0 is a very good motor as well as the old slant six.
Didnt know you have those rigerous inspections over there too. Good to know I´m not alone ;)
Maybee I´ll be the first one with a Cherokee engine in my Swepty. I´ve heard about people putting them in old carburated CJ Jeeps with the whole injection system, cables and everything by connecting the + and - leeds to the ignition coil so maybee it´s possible in a Sweptline too. Guess the best thing would be taking the transmission and everything since the CPS is possitioned on the transmission house.
Guess the motor mounts could work together, since the V8´s in the Grand Cherokee resembles the old Mopars and the Cherokee 4.0 also can be found in the Grand...
As far as I know, California is the only socialist state here in the US. Some get close.... but I'll never live in California.
Disc brakes on the front are a good way to go regardless of engine. These guys had a disc brake swap that I used on my truck and LOVE it (http://www.scarebird.com/). I don't know what they are up to these days. Who knows what it would cost in shipping, etc either.
There was a similar engine that was carburated, the 4.2 in CJ´s. And people with CJ´s have swaped it for the 4.0 with injection, cables and everything...
