Rear end swap
I have a 1989 3/4 ton with a 4.88 rear axle. I found and bought a 4.10 out of a 1962/65(?) and brought it home only to discover that the older models had the E-brake on the driveshaft behind the tranny. Will I be able to make this work in my truck? Would it be easier to swap the gears or remove the brake mouinting plates and put them on the older axle? HELP!

Re: Rear end swap
Sorry, my truck is a 1969 NOT a 1989. Guess I need new glasses too. LOL169D200 wrote:I have a 1989 3/4 ton with a 4.88 rear axle. Re: Rear end swap
I would think that the axles are same length for both housings. It would take a
part of a day.... but you might try switching over a backing plate and dry fitting
the brakes, axle and drum.
