Headers

I am looking at the possibility of putting headers on. I have a 70d100. I am putting a 360 in and the truck is on the original frame. I am hoping i can pick a set of headers up from a swap meet or something like that. Are there any car body styles that would be close to fitting in the truck? I do have capabilities of doing some mods to the headers if need be. Thanks Eric

I've been researching the same thing. Jegs has headers for our trucks. Hedman longtubes in two different tube sizes 1 5/8 and
1 7/8 i believe. Under $200.00. Hookers are a bit pricier but are ceramic coated. They come with up to 2" outlet tubes.. Hooker also makes some block hugger shorties. They dump straight down like your stock manifolds. Look kinda cool. I found some JBA shorties for a magnum small block on my local C/List, posted a cross-app question here and the replies indicate they'll fit on an LA small block. If your going with a magnum style 360, I imagine the possibilities would open up. More vendors to choose from for late model engines.

Any small block LA or Magnum header will bolt on.
Any Magnum application should work fine, most I have seen seem
to be designed to mount to the stock pipes, which should clear
most Swept setups. As mentioned, shorty, center dumps are always
a safe beat, and a good match for a 360.

I would look for a set of headers with 1-5/8" tubes, the 1-7/8" tubes would kill your bottom and mid-range torque on a fairly stock 360. Dave

Thanks for the replies, the motor that is going in has a casting date of 74 so unfortunatly not a magnum but I think it will scoot the ole beast around just fine.
