cap firing order

just bought a 69 dodge camper special and I think the distributor firing order is wrong how do tell which is the #1 on the cap and what is the cap order ie. 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 is this right

also when I had the cap off the base for the points was moving is their a way to tighten it up

Fire order is 18436572, number one on cap is one before
cap clip (clock wise rotation) to front of engine (this clip should be offset too
the pass side of the engine with number one wire pointed to the carb as
a starting point, adjust as needed to get right timing)
on all small blocks.

There should be some movement of the base the points are on, this is
how advance is done, but if movement is "too" easy it maybe that
the advance springs are worn out under that plate. Also check to
see that advance happens when running, with a timeing light
and engine running running at 500rpm time
advance should be at around 10deg, and should max at around 12deg
over 2300rpm, if this does not happen then ether your vacumm line
is not hooked up to dist, or vacumm pod on dist is bad.
