Re: rubber grommet in shift lever trans A745
do you have the bracket that they pop into ??
seems like they do not need to be so precise that you need the exact mopar part...
i'd try something from an assortment of generic stuff at the hardware store like this

coelcanth:
haven't made it to the hardware store yet.
SEAnthony:
here are the measurements of the lever:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/s15xz4lwswadc ... 1.jpg?dl=0
https://www.dropbox.com/s/0tc6we6i0w3qk ... 2.jpg?dl=0
so it looks like your #3, except OD of existing grommet looks like it's > 15/16, but it's pretty torn up, so hard to tell.
you have these for sale?

Re: rubber grommet in shift lever trans A745
Harris,I went through more of my insulators/grommets and found some mark with part #1941699. The picture I sent are loose insulators/grommets I have not inventory yet. The other part I might have for year model 1966-67 is the fuel tank sending unit seal/gasket. I have the cork and rubber seal. I think these parts will span several years. I will p.m. you my contact info.

Anthony, what you sent fits the dimensions I posted exactly. The check is in the mail(box).
coelcanth: if Anthony's wouldn't have worked, I would have tried your suggestion. thanks.

Sorry to reply to a 2 year old thread, but I used VW oil cooler gaskets sandwiched between some washers.

Re: rubber grommet in shift lever trans A745
Well, necessity is the mother of invention I guess. I was backing the truck so I could install the FLAPS muffler (it’s just a temp one for a couple of years) and lost all shifting halfway out of my driveway and street. I just drove it around the block in first and right up the driveway. Looked underneath, saw the linkage and thought, “wait I have something that can fit that bracket.” Grabbed my bag of 50 and trimmed it down, put washers on each side to take out the slack, and tightened it up. I installed the muffler and now I don’t sound like a lawn tractor.
Yes my VW is my daily driver. Goes 40 miles round trip each day. It’s a lot of fun.
