A745 Lube - - again...

Post by shopguy »

65 A745 3 spd. manual. 1 line in the FSM says 80-90, another says ATF. whats the consensus??? either / or? I'm in a moderate climate: 20 deg. F to 100 deg. F.

If 80-90. what service? GL-5? (heard its bad on brass synchro)....or GL-4 service????? I think my early 65 is a non-sychro (at least 1st gear)....A745.

OR how about 20-50 motor oil??????? lighter than the 80-90. many cars use reg. engine oil in manual transmissions. thoughts?

going with Pennzoil synchro for manual transmissions........I don't want to throw GL-5 in the trans. I'm also not very confident in motor oil, although I know some mfr. actually recomend it!
