Drive shaft
Swapping the A745 3spd (long tail) trans. for the np435 4 spd. Will require a longer and larger diameter driveshaft . I have a 2 piece (with carrier bearing( smaller diameter) that my driveshaft guy says I can use, but I will have to build a spanner for the carrier bearing if I go that route. Any pictures of the factory spanner and location? This is a swb truck. I can vary the length of the shaft with the slip yoke. Trying to avoid building a larger 1 piece at $350.

You could try for a used 4spd short wheelbase drive shaft and install new
u-joints too....

I do have a factory carrier bearing cross member....
Location?...

buried somewhere in my parts loft....

Re: Drive shaft
So you are going to a np435 in a shortbed?
Is the np435 ball and trunion with a trans brake? If so I have a driveshaft here that came from my old 63 shorty with an np435. The truck had an 8 3/4 too. It should fit and I don't mind shipping

Re: Drive shaft
I believe this shaft would slide into a chunk of floor carpet tubingTxas2step wrote:

If someone has the part..... and there's a local carpet outlet store, they'd
likely have a tube. Tape up the ends and you're set to ship UPS.

Re: Drive shaft
Solved. Used the split shaft w/carrier bearing from my '76 tradesman. Glibert's drive shaft cut it down to spec.'s, new u joints...ready to go. I have to adapt the carrier bracket to fit on the cross member.
