Re: project: BLOWN SLANT
That is seriously cool! I have a mildly built slant in a late A-body, and it is a ton of fun. I can't even imagine a blown slant in an early A. My hat is off to you sir.

My apologies. But you are 2 years my senior... hahajrstockracer wrote:hey! none of that sir stuff. im only 27.
So do I understand that this is going on a stock motor? I love it. I used the ENGNBLDR valves/springs/etc. in mine, and they came out well. I would recommend them unless you're going to overbore real big.

Re: project: BLOWN SLANT
no worries, im just messing with you. i rebuilt this engine two years ago. its got 7.000 miles on it. its 40 over with an rv cam. it still has the low compression head. at the time i wasnt sure which direction i wanted to go with it. it has been great for cruising around. but now i want a little more out of it. i guess we will see how well it holds up. i think as long as i can keep it from detonating, the cast pistons should be fine.

ok guys. here are a few more pictures. i got the engine and transmission back in the wagon. now i just need to hook up the electric fan, install and plumb the electric fuel pump, install a wideband o2 meter, etc. its still going to be a while before i fire it up, but at least its back in the car.

Re: project: BLOWN SLANT
well yesterday i got the fuel lines in, gas tank in, and drive shaft in. i also put on my new head gasket. oh and i also welded the bung in my header for the 02 sensor and mounted my boost and wideband gauge in the car. there are a ton of loose ends to tie up. i guess i better go get my but out there and work on it.

Re: project: BLOWN SLANT
well its been a while since ive done much on my wagon. other things came up that needed work and im sure you all know how that goes. but i did get the blower back from being rebuilt and polished a couple weeks ago. im going to be working on the fuel system today, i ended up having to weld a sump into my fuel tank and now i just need to find a place to mount the pump.

Re: project: BLOWN SLANT
Aussiespeed has supercharger kits for the slant. I drool over them every chance I get.

Nice to see this installation...very nice, very fun. I'll be curious to see it finished.

Re: project: BLOWN SLANT
I've seen those aussiespeed kits. I wanted to buy one, but they still arnt selling complete kits. I'm going to try to fire mine up tomorrow. For now I stole the carb off my swepty and ran some regular fuel line. It will be all braided eventually. I just want to fire it up and make sure the belt stays on fine and the blower gasket doesn't leak.

Re: project: BLOWN SLANT
hey guys. well i finally have another update! i have been cruising my station wagon around the neigborhood trying to get the carb dialed in. so far no major problems. i do need to have another pulley made though. i think i underdrove the blower too much, im not getting much boost under load. but this thing runs good. it takes very little effort to get the car moving with the air and fuel being shoved into the cylinders. when this slant was n/a, i was running #52 main jets on a 390 holley. with the blower im running #72's with a 600 holley. i had to go that large to keep it from going lean when i got on it. for anyone that hasnt used a wideband air/fuel meter, i highly recommend it. well worth the money for instant readings on whats going on with the carb.

Re: project: BLOWN SLANT
here are a couple more shots. one is the wagon coming back from its first test drive, the other is the engine as it looks now. i dont know how i want to paint the scoop yet. maybe body color with some gold leaf? and suggestions?
Re: project: BLOWN SLANT
I Love It! I always wanted to do something like that w/ the /6's in my life, but always ended up coming to
the conclusion that I had a V-8 ready for a quick drop-in. I've seen some /6 Tubo setps, but never one that's blown - Good on Ya!
