ok. im lost on what this could be. i have been having what i thought was a belt squeeling, i replaced the belt, water pump and alternator, but nothing made it go away. so today i pulled the belt off and the engine still squeels without the belt hooked up. does anyone know what it could be? i did a quick google search and someone with a similar problem said it turned out to be a vacuum leak. maybe tomorrow i will try to see if its that. the sound gradually gets louder then goes away, off an on. maybe its a bearing? but i have good oil pressure 60 psi. here is a link to a video of it.

Re: engine squeeling noise
I have a 440 in my motorhome and I had a squeel that anyone would say was the belts, after alot of frustration trying to figure it out, the squeel came from the PCV valve, if u can just pinch the vacuum hose or pop out the PCV valve and see what happens. It may not be the problem but it sure sounds just like what I was dealing with. Good luck!

Re: engine squeeling noise
I just realized I never posted what that squeal was. Turned out my main thrust bearing was installed upside down, which blocked the oil hole in the block feeding that bearing. I'm suprised it never came apart. I put about 600 miles on it and who knows how long it was like that with the previous owner. Since I wasn't ready to build a new engine, I took a chance and put a new bearing in. Fired it up and have 80 psi oil pressure cold and 40 sitting in traffic. I have since put about 1500 miles on my truck. Guess I got lucky for once.
