Hello,
My carburetor is a Carter K8 9626SA A.F.B. when I accelerate at start it is bogging down then it will pick up and drive fine at higher rpms. Only when I slow down and upon reacceleration does it seem to peter out or bog down. When I looked at the carb I manipulated the throttle at the carb and its getting even amounts of gas spray inside. However it looks moist around the carb like gas has been leaking around the carb. Can anyone steer me in the right direction please? Thank you all in advance She ran liked a raped ape a couple of days ago!

Which engine?
Sounds like a leaky butterfly shaft at
the throttle body. This can cause your
engine to stumble. Is this a 4bbl conversion?
If so, was the camshaft changed to match
the carb?

Hello,
Thank you for the reply. The motor is supposed to be out of a 1972 its a small block 318. I dont know about the internals of the motor other than I put new plugs, wires, cap, rotor a couple of months ago. Three days ago she was running fine. I noticed some signs of leakage but that didnt affect the performance until yesterday. Thats when she began to bog down upon acceleration from the start.
I just rebuilt my 9626 SA Carter 625 AFB elect choke. Mine would idle great and run wide open great.
It fell on its face under exceleration. The check ball in the float bowl was bad. The check ball looks like a jet with a ball and spring in it. It sits at a angle near the bottom of the float bowl.
What it does is lets fuel flow into the pump cavity and under pump pressure the ball keeps fuel from pushing back into the float bowl side.
The Eddy's don't use the check valve and the kits don't come with them. They have a deaper cut slot that allows for fuel to transfer to the pump.
I had to go to a local carb shop and get a new check valve. it was 3 bucks.
