The Mopar 727 tranny is one of the strongest and best autos out there. Just check it to make sure it doesn't slip and shifts crisply when you test drive it. Good luck. Mike

As already said, the transmission is a keeper. It has the Slant
Six designed/shaped Bell-Housing, the Chrysler/MoPar Small
Block Bell Housing and the Chrysler/MoPar Big Block Bell Housing.

All three use the same "727" Spec'd Parts ( Any of the three
engine sizes could be in your year, model and size of truck ) .

The first thing a new ower should do is remove the old
transmission filter and all the fluid since the seller always claims
it was just done. Your WalMart has this stocked in every city.

Before buy, color of fluid should be checked, brown or smell of burnt oil and a rebuild is not far
down the road...... pull stick and rub fluid across finger or white paper
Dark red --fluid change is in order if no black specks are visable
pink to med red-- aok

trans is a keeper even if rebuild is needed, and filter change would be in order if you buy
to inspect inside pan for metal and install clean filter.
