So, I guess the honeymoon is over ...now I'm hearing a sort of popping/whiffing sound when I accelerate. The sound just started and is intermittent, and seems to be only during acceleration, weather in gear or just revving in neutral. Sounds like compressed air escaping from somewhere in the engine. It's a 62 D200 w/ 318 big block, 3 on the tree...Any ideas of what the pop/whiff sound could be?
Well, the noise has ceased before I got time to really do anything. The gasket could definitely use replacing, looks like it hasn't been touched in years, the plugs were all tight. Maybe it (the sound) is weather/temp related, I'll have to pay attention next time I hear it...Thanks for the feedback everyone
