Has anyone transplanted a 392 Hemi into a W100 Powerwagon????

I've seen a couple in D's, don't remember one in a W. Wouldn't be any more effort to do. You have one?

Seems like someone had put a 392 in either a D500 or W500. It was nicely done IIRC.

I had a 59 Power Giant D500 with a 392. Bought it from BrittnCool. Parted the truck, kept the 392.

Out of curiosity, what bell housing pattern does the 392 have? Is it common with any other mopar?

Do we know for sure that he isn’t talking about a modern 392 hemi?
They are way easier to find and a whole lot harder to put in a sweptline.

It uses the basic small block bell.

As you wrote, the difference is 392 Hemi vs 392 hemi.

The moderns aren't even real Hemis.

The current-production "HEMI" engine heads are flatter and more complex than the 1950s–'70s Hemi V8 chamber. The combustion chambers are no longer truly hemispherical.

I was assuming the 1950's 392 Hemi.
I don't know squat about any Mopar gasoline engines made after the discontinuance of the 5.2/5.9 Magnums about 20 years ago.
Then again I no very little about those from the 50's

Funny thing is, Chrysler patented the name "Hemi" and the name "392". The first of the 3rd gen "392 hemis" were 5.7 liter, which wasn't even 392 cid. 392 cid is 6.4 liter!
As far as I care, a 392 Hemi was from the 50's and was capable of having a cross ram intake installed.

i was thinking of even a 325 hemi i seen in the late 50s it was offered in a truck (maybe a 331)
don't know anything about them but some have built in bell housings
my machinist friend has built them ans says they are expensive to machine
but would love to find one just build a car around
think its easier to find a 426 over a vintage 392 seen a few of the smaller ones cheep enough
i think the 392 is hp of the newer hemis

If a Hemi was offered in a Dodge truck it might be one of the Dodge versions like the 325 mentioned, or the Chrysler 354 which is shown to be in some heavy duty trucks & C series pick-ups.

Chrysler were 331,354,392
Dodge were 241,270,315,325
DeSoto were 276,291,330,341,345

Yes Bucky. There was a C500 in a junkyard here with one in it. Think it was the 354, but might have been the 331. Thought about getting it, but was too much trouble at the time. At least I still have pics of it :)

Just from what I can gather reading the 331 blocks had the upper portion of the bellhousing cast as part of the block.

wow they had a lot of hemis threw the years ..power dome was the truck engine
i searched ebay one time and they had lots of them offered
but i think my machinist friend said some had cooling problems and would crack heads
and need to put hardened seats in them ,so need to find a trusted seller

There is a member who came across [and bought] a '50s vintage 392 Hemi equipped W from the Power Giant era.
I'm not certain ..... but I think its a W200?
