What axles would a 1969 W300 have? Dana 60 front? 70 rear? Not familiar on what they would have on the swepty's.

Swepty's W-300 ? does such an animal exist ? I always thought the W-300 was a step side box. What does the data-plate on the driver side door jamb show ?

Any 61 thru 74 W300 would have Dana 70 front & rear, usually 4.88 gears. They were 6 lug until around 68-69 then went to 8 lug. Also they were offered in SRW & Dually set-ups. I think after 70 or so they were all duallys.
Most W300's were stake bed, cab & chassis or utiline boxes.

My bad. I am showing my ignorance. Its a 69 W300. With a service box in back. I saw it on the Minneapolis Craigslist. I can't get a good look at the wheels to.count the lugs. Is the Dana 70 an oddball?

They are still Sweptline era trucks.

"Technically".... a "step side" box wasn't made for Dodge. They're called Utiline boxes.
A W300 Utiline is, as Bill pointed out, still a Sweptline truck too. Clear as mud now?....

Dana 70 front was used up through 74. Had drum brakes & closed knuckles. Wouldn't handle any more power than the Dana 60 front that replaced it, but probably would handle more weight. Had 10 3/4" ring gear.
The Dana 70 rear continued on into the 90's in 1 tons, mainly duallys.
Not oddball just old school. Not as popular (aftermarket support) as the Dana 60.

I saw the ad. Truck has 8 lug wheels. Looks like it has a winch & 383 big block. Not a bad deal.

Dana 70's front and rear, NP 205 t-case. Be careful as the '69's had 14" drums which can be a royal PITA to hunt down if they get worn. '69 was the first year for 8-lug axles under the D and W300 models- '68 and earlier were 6 lug.

Thanks for the info! The truck looks like a good deal, but I will probably have to pass. Tax time of course. Just wanted to know for future reference. Stroh
