Door Detents

Post by shdnobetter »

Am I missing something or were these trucks not built with detents in the doors? You know, they allow the door to stay open part way, or when you're on a slope and you don't want your shins smashed, they keep it open, too. Pretty much every other vehicle I've ever seen built since the 50's has them.

My 69 doesn't have them and as far as I know no Sweptline did. The only thing that limits the door travel is the hinges. Robin, he's referring to the spring-loaded detents that most later vehicles have that hold the door open. I think every vehicle has them now.

I don't recall anyplace for them, I mean if they had been thier, and taken off, I don't see where they would have been. :thinking

Funny,my wife was just complaining about that the other day as she was trying to hold the door and climb in the truck -if i want to hold the door open for something i just stuff an old can-soda or beer, both work-into the hinge with it open.It works and if you forget its there it just crushes without damageing anything on the truck.
