Start by replacing the old springs with new ones from EATON then check your height.
How high do you want to go and what are you planning to use the rig for?

I am not the most familiar with the sweptline intricacies, but I have lifted a bunch of trucks. Here's what I have found:
First, have a clear goal. If you want 33s, shoot for 33s. If you want 36s, don't settle for 33s. It will create more work later.
Second, have a clear budget. The lift and tires are only part of the equation. You also need to account for steering corrections, brake upgrades, and (possibly) regearing.
Third, do your homework before you buy anything or remove anything. You don't need to have all the stuff in the garage, but know exactly what parts you will be using before you start.

I would start by verifying what gears you have, as that could save you a bundle right there. In my opinion, 4.10s are good for up to 36" tires. I think that was the tallest ratio in these trucks anyway. I can't help you with steering, but I can say that bigger tires are much different on braking. A good brake tuneup should be considered a minimum. This includes new soft lines (consider braided SS)

Hope all this helps
What a mess.

You could probably use a dana 44 or 60 that has disc brakes. I am going to use an early 90s cummins dana 60 front for mine.
What a mess.

I'm gonna stick my neck out here and say a Dana 44 front axle, be it closed or open knuckle, can't really handle more than 33" tires if you actually want to use it offroad. Oh sure, there are lots of folks out there with big meats on wimpy axles, but you can get on U-tube and see vids of their wheels falling off deep in the mountains. If a 3,000 lb jeep with 35" tires can easily break a 44 front axle, then a 5,000 lb Swepty with a healthy Mopar engine will do it even easier. Of course, prudent driving can do wonders, but most folks get a lift and some big tires and go jumping which about the dumbest thing you can do (don't ask me how I know this). There is nothing worse than trying to "prove" to your buddies how tough your truck is only to have your driveline turn into a pretzel. You could probably get away with 35-36" tires if you kept it real mellow in the engine dept. There is a reason that Dodge didn't offer the 383 on the W300. They only offered the /6 and 318 cause bigger engines tore up the drivetrain too easy under loaded 4x4 conditions (like getting wood etc.). Just something to consider when yer on the freeway at 75 mph...
Just look at Matt's post "went rock crawling this weekend" if you want proof of what I am saying. These trucks are tough, but not near as tough as dear ol Mother Nature. It's a real shame to take a nice old truck and tear it up for no reason.

That is very true. I do think anything over 33" on a 44 with no upgrades is starting to push it, especially if you have a lot of torque.

The stock axles on those 44 will not hold up ,you are correct.. then once you get some chromo's in there the stock carrier will break, or the pinion gear.. but that is only my experience..
once i replaced that my d44 was fine with the 42's...
also mine was not a rock crawler, and i used an open front dif that probably helped alot also..

FYI ..Dodge did offer W300s with 383. I have seen two 71s .Both were factory trucks, and I did read the data plates. The red 71 in the sweptline regestry is one of them.It now belongs to Marty ,in Canada. It used to reside in Lewiston Id. :Thumbsup

I think it's all karma! I have a 77 W100 with a built 440 (450 H.P.) and I
decided to go mud racing with it. I thought why change out this 1/2 ton
stuff let's break it first. Lincoln lockered both ends and went racing.
Light duty D44 with the wimpy full time knuckles and a dozen brutal
runs later, no breakage.
