1968 Powerwagon 4x4

Post by Albertaguy »

New to the site, have a few of these trucks between a friend and I. Just wondering how rare a 68 (1 ton i believe) power wagon 4x4 with a 318, 4 speed, and pto winch really is.

From a number aspect, the truck is quite rare. There were less than 700 68 W-300 V8 trucks built.

From a monetary aspect, the numbers barely mean a thing.
There are no reliable production figures left to break down
engine, trans or color combinations, like B and E body cars.

Welcome!!

So I'm assuming that mine would be a Canadian model making it even rarer? I know where there another one of these trucks also.

Meaning.... you have a Fargo W300? Did you run the VIN through the
decoder yet? Are you positive it is a W300? If its a W300... they're
few & far between... if its a W200.... they're more plentiful.

Definately a dodge and definately a one ton. I'm more of a Chev guy and I'm assuming they had a canadian assembly plant.

Heck yeah,
They were built in Windsor Ontario just across the river from the Warren truck plant in MI. Both my father and grandfather worked in that plant(Windsor) building our trucks. I have a ' 67 build sheet for all the Fargo W100's and they built less than 580 of them. Once you break down by options it gets even rarer. I have yet to see any fargo truck with similar options to mine. According to my dad they mostly built the larger medium duty trucks in that plant. And that was by hand, in stalls, no assembly line! they used to draw straws to see who would go to the hardware store after work to pick up the bolts for the next day lol....
Like someone already said, production #'s are not in proportion to this value :banghead
