Gett'n er Mounted on the Bed
Was the width of the frame wider on the earlier 60s w300 vs. the later 60s? I have a bed cross-member from a w300 62 and the bolt holes don't appear to line up on a w300 68.

Re: Width 62 vs. 68
Are you sure the cross member is for the right location on the frame? The two front crossmembers bolt to riveted tabs on the outsides of the frame, whereas the rears bolt directly through the frame itself.... Confused yet?!? Laymens' terms- front crossmember bolt holes are farther apart than the rear ones. Grrr... Anyone more grammatically talented want to chime in?

Re: Width 62 vs. 68
I want to mount this bed onto the truck. As you can see the bed is still about a foot and a half back from where it is suppost to be. That is not the issue though, I just wanted to show an overview pic.
My concern is where does it mount? What am I missing? The first pic is the front corner of the bed. The other side looks the same. The bed is even on both sides.

Re: Gett'n er Mounted on the Bed
Thx Don, No not a WM. It was a bed off of a 1962 Dodge w300 . I don't believe it was a 4x4. I could be wrong about the 4x4 thing but I know it wasn't a power wagon or WM model .
In one of the posts, buddy said: "The two front crossmembers bolt to riveted tabs on the outsides of the frame, whereas the rears bolt directly through the frame itself."
This sounds like I could be missing some kind of brackets (riveted tabs) that act as a link for the crossmembers to the frame. What ever the riveted tabs look like I have no idea.

Yes, I have a riveted 'L' Bracket against the outside of the frame in that location in the pic.

Just to make sure 1 ton beds are 9 foot long
frames are 34Inches wide--real close
the angle brackes were rivited to the frames or bolted
but I see that this has been posted

Re: Gett'n er Mounted on the Bed
I don't get it. VPW sent me this web site of WDX 1st series bed. http://www.t137.com/ToddSomers/Bed/index.htm
The pics are clear but I doubt they are relevant to a 68 w300. since my frame is straight and flat. I still don't see how my bed is suppost to mount onto my frame. It cannot go directly into the frame unless I start making holes. The bolts coming out the 'C' cross-members on the bed are 38" apart. My frame rails are 34" apart.

Re: Gett'n er Mounted on the Bed
I will look tomorow and see if I can find some, and take pictures of the mounting brackets.
both of my 9ft beds are off -were replaced with flats.
I think the utline uses the same bracket, so maybe some one can post a picture of theirs

Re: Gett'n er Mounted on the Bed
I grabbed a picture of Steven's truck out of the photo section.Right behind the cab
download/file.php?id=1611&mode=view
you can see the L brackets or ears that the box mounts too. I would immagine it would be the same for a 300,but cant say for sure ,as my 300 is a stake bed truck.

Re: Gett'n er Mounted on the Bed
The pic of steven's frame is missing the bed mounts about 18" back from the back of the cab. I ran out and snapped some pics of my parts truck frame for your reference- The frame on the 100-200 series truck measures in around 38" (my '67 service manual lists 38.10"), while the 300 series frame is listed as exactly 34". From center of bolt hole to center of bolt hole on the riveted on pieces of a W200 frame is 41.5". This means that the riveted pieces add 3.5" to the frame width for mounting the bed, So these tabs would put your bolt holes at roughly 37.5" apart. This was to the center of the bolt holes- the holes were large enough to accomodate mounting bolts that are 38" on center, though. I had a '69 D300 with the 9 foot utiline bed on it, and it had the frame tabs for mounting the bed, too. So, you need to buy or fab yourself some of these mounts, and your bed will fit perfectly. Good luck!!

Thx for taking those pics powerwagoner. Ahha.... this is why it doesn't fit:
