Dana 60 rear diff.

Post by Johns67 »

Hello, been a while since I posted. Recently I had to replace the front u-joints on my 1967 D200 -now 4x4. So I deceided to replace the pinion seals on the front and back differencials. Never did realize that the rear diff had limited slip (can't remember what Dodge calls it). Well it never worked in the past 20 years. I know because I live 300 feet higher than the town I live in. Going up the hill every day the back end hopped. Now that I dropped the cover on the Dana 60 and replaced the gear oil with the limited slip type, it is working again. The truck goes up the hill smooth. My son had to prove it to me by doing a two wheel rear burn out in the dirt last night.
Still have a bad vibration when shifting from 2nd to 3rd and then everything smoothes out in 4th. Anyone think they know what it is? I plan on putting the truck up on r x r ties this weekend and have my son go threw the gear while I'm underneath checking it out. Thanks!~Johns67
