So it kinda looks like a NP201 but is really a split stick NP205. Works well and I retained the twin stick look.
Very cool! How do you intend to do a shifter boot for the twin stick?

Now the fun part. I really do like the look of the twin stick transfer case that my truck had originally so I decided to get a split rail kit and add the twin sticks back on. So it kinda looks like a NP201 but is really a split stick NP205. Works well and I retained the twin stick look.
One thing about the twin stick: These trucks originally did not have 2WD-Low because the driveline was not designed to tolerate the engine delivering 2X torque to the rear axle alone. If you are planning to run 2WD-Low (I am), an upgrade to the Spicer 1430 style yokes (if I recall the number correctly

) may be in order. If you got a '69+ NP-205, I believe that has the 30 spline output shaft, which makes that driveline upgrade a LOT easier to do.

Thanks for the additional info. Have not gotten that far along in my build to answer what I will or will not be using the truck for. Currently thinking I will just drive around town. Especially if I put any money into the paint job.As for the shifter boot I got a new twin stick boot form a for bronco resale parts place. Fits and looks good.

Now that's not fair.

If you find what you learned here useful, then please provide the manufacturer's part number and contact info.
It's one of those corporeal culture thingies.

Ok here you go: I was able to split my shift rails on the 205 using a shift rail kit (see info below). Got the twin boot from same place. Hope this helps.

Thanks, I sent them a note.

The twin stick boot is cool, but won't work with the stock NP201 setup due to the sticks locking together in 4 low. Modify the sticks to work at your own risk/peril.

Which I did:

Since that photo was taken, I lengthened the shaft such that I have the 1/2" Stronghold wanted.

That was directed to the masses, not u specifically Mark. We already know what, why and how u did what u did to modify yours. Just didn't want someone with a stock setup to think those boots would work.

Which was appropriate. Nor was offense taken. I just wanted others to have reference to what was found, done, and why, particularly because I have snapped a u-joint in 2X-Low on the old truck. It's still not done, but it's close. Other aspects of the project will have priority until it rains.
