No retirees here... ;-) except for one '63 D100 parts truck that is still complete minus a couple pieces.

Getting a load of wood in the snow yesterday, backed up to where the truck sits, quite a bit steeper than it looks. Watch out for parking leaning to the left too much, gas will leak out of yr gas cap if the tank is high enough. Or don't go into the woods with a near full tank (need to get a handle on the gas gauge problem this spring when outside working weather comes back). Ended up being one hell of a load of wood, too much to leave in the truck overnight... ugh.






And another of a load from before we got snow. This mother can haul one helluva load of wood without squatting down too awfully bad, but sure can make some weird sounds driving out of the woods like that, creak...GROAN... ;-)

That looks like lodgepole pine.... Do you burn that in
your home stove or fireplace?

All Douglas Fir, except for the odd Ponderosa (bull) Pine here and there. Mostly all in the home stove, our only source of heat. 12 miles from the nearest town, off the grid.

The '70 Power Wagon turned out tougher than I thought. Been pretty badly abused (WA Dept of Game), and then pretty badly neglected. Wife was on my @#% to get "the firewood truck" going this summer, bless her (or it would still be sitting with clapped out brakes, rusted out floors, no gas tank, no seat, etc...), so I spent I don't know how long on it this summer, completing the work from the spring before, when I sort of ran out of steam looking at the floorboards, etc.

This coming summer maybe I'll get that PTO winch going and re-cabled, be fun skidding trees in. Everything we cut is standing dead.

I'm running all traction split rims on it, just for the old timeyness of it, and they are tough as nails.

Powertrain is 383 2bbl, NP435, 4:10 DANA 60's front/rear, the rear is a wicked posi (That was cool when I found that out, I'd had the truck two years and never checked), can't even turn a tire with the other on the ground. I like em like that! But it can make you slide sideways pretty fast when you're crawling backwards on a snowy slope and leaning to the side at the same time, as I found out yesterday... I wasn't looking forward to sliding those cool sideboards against some trees and having to pull away like that.


It's labeled an E20 on the door tag. Sort of a mystery thing in 1970, and maybe later.

I was in BC the 70's, real fond memories. Nelson and the Slocan Valley, lived up there for about 6 months through a winter. Just beautiful if you love mountains, endless mountains...

Yes the Red one's mine. I am a fan of mountains myself. My other pastime is camping and riding my Rhino Side by Side.
Eastern B C is an area I would like to spend some time in and explore. Love riding to the top of a mountain for the view.

Tum Tum & Suncrest is a beautiful area ;-) Love to go through there in the fall, looking at fall colors on the river. Really nice drive out of Spokane, 9 mile to Suncrest, keep following the road through Scot's Valley, then Long Lake Dam, come out in Reardan on Hwy 231.

Btw, I shouldn't tell you this (because I should get this truck)...(but I REALLY shouldn't! ;-{), but there's a really nice '66 D500 sitting at the Ag Link in Reardan, short (maybe 12') dumpbed, 361 engine so it's pretty heavy duty. In nice shape. Farmer had it there for sale last summer, second of two Dodges he brought there to sell. Don't know what the deal is with this one, but it's still there... taunting me as I drive by on the way into Spokane.

If I didn't have my D500 already I'd been all over this thing like flies on you know what, but I already have my hands full with the ones I got.

I'll give anyone directions that wants to get it.

Here's our '66 D500 and '63 D300 taking in part in a Springtime cleanup/dump run, a couple years ago. Sure feels good taking old junk to the dump!



The gauge set-up in that truck, sweet! And a factory vacuum gauge in the dash, AND and uncut virgin radio delete dash. Now, there's something you don't see everyday!








The '70 Power Wagon is radio delete too, still have the factory blanking plate on to this day, with the Govt issued MPH/KPH chart. Kinda looks like a radio dial if you don't know what you're looking at.
