My purchase of the 63 413 HPP D100 is fairly well documented. I bought it from a truck dealer in Ca. who didn't know what it was either. All we both knew was it was a 63 with a big V8 and auto. Perfect for towing my maxwedge clone, which was my original goal. I still don't have the maxie, but I like the truck anyway. The truck came to me so original it still had original exhaust pipes and hangers on it. I'm still learning how they did things in 63 but I'm having fun.

Junk yard
Bought a 66 D100 /6 3speed out of a junkyard for $350, was gonna fix it, but used it for parts. WELL worth the money.
Bought from a friend
Bought my 67 D100 Custom from JJ. I sure miss that truck, but something had to go because at the time I had no place to keep it.
Was given to me to get out of someones yard
Thomas gave me a 71 D100 lwb to get out of his yard. Drove it on and off the trailer.
Passed down from family member
My dad is a die hard chevy man,so I'll never get to have this experience, but had 3 mopars he took on trades. A 57 Coronet convertible with a hemi that he traded for a boat, a black 70 440 Daytona he paid $2200 for at a yard sale and sold for $3300, calling the guy an idiot the entire way home, and a 32 Dodge brothers pickup that was left to him by his dad. It was one of the farm trucks when my dad was growing up. He still owns it, but doesn't remember where it is. Hasn't seen it since about 1976.
Bought off internet or over phone sight unseen (explain which)
Bought several over the internet. My favorite is my 67 CSS, my second is my 69 W200 SWB that I had to sell to buy JJ's truck. These trucks are NON EXISTENT in this part of the world, and most of my trucks are bought over the internet. I've only bought one off ebay, though I've bid on perhaps a dozen or more.
Knocked on a door
I've knocked on lots of doors and bought lots of cars this way, but not a single truck has turned up mine this way.
Left a note on a windshield
I've left probably 50 notes on windshields, and have recieved ZERO callbacks.

Well on my way to becoming that eccentric old man in every town.(crazy as a s#@thouse rat) With a yard full of desireable old vehicles that tells you, Sorry they're not for sale..... Someday I'm going to fix them.
My Dad saw it on the side of the road, thought it was the ugliest dodge he had ever seen, so of course I had to go and check it out. Saw it, fell in love with the poor thing, should have been in the junkyard, rot everywhere you can imagine, and I mean everywhere. And I am now most likely going to buy a parts truck to make two into one, witha 5.7 stuffed between the fenders, hopefully

Bought my 1970 Dude of a car lot. Now Sold
Bought my D100 sight unseen over the phone from a man that transfers cars from texas to northern locations. We told him over the phone what we wanted. He brought it on one of his trips with his 18 wheeler to Ohio for $1000.00. Originally was going to part it out to fix my Dude. Sold the Dude to make my house down payment. Later I used some spare parts that I had to get the D100 driving again. Mopar400

'61 D-100 Utiline
Left by former room mate who owed me money. Got tired of the city ticketing me on it so I title 42'ed it into my name. Not quite free but close.
'62 D-100 SWB
Bought off of the forum from a forum member.
'64 D-200 LWB CSS
A friend told me 'bout this one and I asked to see it. Meet the owner and became friends with him too and cut a deal for it. Was the first truck with the buckets and console in that I'd ever seen.
'68 A-100 Pick Up
Picked up at the salvage yard in St Louis, Oklahoma.
'68 D-200 LWB
This is the first swepline I ever owned. I bought it from the dealership that I worked at at the time. It was totaled that winter by being hit in the backend and then run into the back of a van with a spare on the back. Got more money for her than I paid and got to keep her too. Then traded it to a friend for a '69 Charger body.
'69 A-100 Van
Saw this two miles from the house and just had to have it. Used it as my daily driver for 'bout a year. Its a former Southwestern Bell van.
'70 A-108 Van
Saw this in downtown OKC and bought it for parts for the A-100 Pick Up
'70 D-100 SWB
This is the second swepty that I ever owned. Drove it till the motor died (yes you can kill a /6) Traded it for a Dana 60 for my '71 hemicuda.
'70 D-200 Crew Cab LWB
Traded a friend a rearend and front straight axle for this one as he was sending it to the crusher.
'70 D-100 Utiline
I traded the crew cab to Jimmy for this truck.
'70 D-100 "Dude" LWB
I traded the '70 utiline to Scott for this '70 "Dude" so he could get his utiline on the road.

Many of our trucks have come from many different places:
1940 VF404 1 1/2 ton 4X4
One of the local barbers had to sell his mother's ranch that he has lived on all his life. He told us about an old military Dodge truck, so we went and looked at and now it is ours. He just had to get rid of it.
1962 W100
This truck was originally off a ranch in the Santa Maria, Ca area. It was a real beater when we got it. We belive we are the 3rd or 4th owner. The man we bought it from had got the brakes working and got it running. My Dad found it in the local Photo Ad a few years ago and was looking at getting it but he never did. He found in the Photo Ad again and now that I am into these trucks, we made it a project and restored it. Now it is my truck to drive.
1963 W200 (Dad's first Power Wagon)
My Grandfather found it at Lake Arrowhead in 1973. A guy needed money to buy a house so my Dad bought it. It had the heavy duty 3500 lbs. front end with posi front and rear. It also had the factory PTO winch. He also put in a 340 out of an early 70's Cuda that was in a junkyard. He bought his next Power Wagon (1964 W200) and transferred some parts over to that truck including the engine and winch. He sold it in January 1978 to a guy in the Bay area (CA).
1964 W200
My Dad bought this truck in San Luis Obispo, Ca in 1977 from a guy who bought a couple (1964 W200, mid 60's crewcab PW and a 1967 W200) of them from an auction from the White Sands, New Mexico Air Force Base. He had both the '63 W200 and '64 W200 for a while and later sold the '63. He painted the '64 and put the 340 in as well. We still have the truck and we use it for haulin firewood.
1964 W300 and 1965 W100
Last year (2005) during our annual summer trip up into Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana we stopped into over 20 junkyards looking for parts for our '62 W100 project. While up in Montana we stopped at one and found that the guy had many Dodge trucks. He showed us around the yard showing us all of the Dodge trucks that he had. All we found were 2WDs which we got a few parts off of. On our way back to the truck he said "O by the way there are a few Power Wagons or some 4WDs over here." So we followed him over there and there they were, a 1964 W300 and a 1965 W100 right next to eachother. We were very suprised to find them. They were surrounded by a few other cars. We looked around at them for a while and took some pictures. We talked to the guy about them and he said he had used them and later just parked them and there they sat. Later in November my Dad and Grandfather went up and met my Uncle in Boise (who has a 1961 W100 since '71) and they went over and picked them up. They went back to my Uncle's house and dropped off the '65 and then came back home with the '64. At Easter break my Dad and I went back up to my Uncle's and got the '65 and brought it home too. We got both of them runnin and the brakes working. Now we are restoring the '64 W300 like my '62 W100. We really want to put a Cummins in it.
I got interested in these trucks about two years ago and now can't stop talking or thinkin about them. It is sure a fun sickness.

66 d100 long bed, bought from a guy in a hotel parking lot $850. he was incredibly frustrated he couldnt get it to run and wanted it gone. 20 minutes later, i drove it to MCdonalds. shes still going strong.
66d100 long bed, car dealer buddy took it as a trade. called me and said come get it, and bring me that tranny i need (trade value $250). too rusty to use, so it got parted out.
both 66's wound up sold to a forum member in a package deal.
67 d100 long bed saw it on the side of the road, left a note and got a call back that night with an offer to deliver to my door for $200. too far gone to fix, it too got parted out to various forum members. still have a few of the parts sitting here from it. cab and frame got scrapped.
70 d100 long bed, stopped to ask about it in a yard. "if you want it, get it outta my yard" it was out the next day. should have looked at it better, it would have stayed there. parted what i could to forum memebers, the rest got scrapped.
69 crew cab short bed d200 once in a life time buy. $3500 from the orginal owner. garage kept its entire life. not a spot of rust, paint still shined, it was F'n gorgeous.
65 crew cab long bed, ran into financial difficulty sold the 69 to a forum member for cash and this truck as a trade. been with it every since.
70 d100 short bed, bought for my dad from NMSU auction $400. he sold it to patrick, patrick sold it to someone else. its been around.
69 d200 cab and chassis, thought i was getting a good cab. bought site unseen $100. not only was the cab too rusty, so was the freakin frame. junk yard was called the next day.
66 d100 long bed, bought it from a forum member for a hot rod project. more rusty then i like, but too many good parts to pass up. $2500

I "Took my truck on Trade" (Trade for some work) and I wasn't really looking for a truck, but the guy said he would give it to me "IF" I sandblasted and painted his 5 wheels for a 1930 Model A. He is a neighbor about a mile away and he bought that truck brand new in 1968. (I remember him driving/owning this truck when I was a kid!) However, that doesn't make me the 2nd owner... BECAUSE, he sold it to his brother, and then it was sold several more times and then YEARS later, he saw it sitting derilict at a gas station, and he just "had" to save it. Well... it sat in his yard, and he realized, he wouldn't get'er done before it rusted away, so he made me that deal. He also has a '65 Honda 305 Dream that I now want to get from him..., I wonder what else he wants painted

my '70 D-100, i kept pestering the guy who had it, he kept saying its not for sale, finally he said " if I sold that truck i'd hafta get $500. dollars for it" i didn't blink an eye, said no problem, do you want to drive it home & take your stuff out of it.
my other 2 came to me from folks who realized i was into them trucks. sad but true fact is i pd more for 1 of the parts trucks, it was one rusty SOB, but it was a '71 adventurer, that was bone stock & had all the desireble stuff were all looking for.

Good poll Jimmy!
My first sweptline came from a Naples,Id. junkyard in trade for a 63 chev 2ton stock truck. It started its life with me as a worn out beat up 69W100.I found a good 68 body in the middle of the Mohave desert. It was rust free, but had about half a dozen bullet holes to fix.The hd44 front came from Houser Lake,Id..The 60 rear from Lewiston,Id..
Then I found a 68d100 383 4speed truck in Haden,Id.for $450. I used the engine and radiator for my truck, the rearend for my wifes uncle's truck, and parted the rest.
I drove my Mohave Yellow 69/69 W100/200 frankenstine for about 10 years before I sold it to my nephew.
After a couple years without a sweptline I found a red 67W200 383 4speed with heavy duty guages. It was BEAT UP! but the running gear was great.$500 and it was mine. It is still progressing in my garage.
My nephew lost intrest in the yellow frankenstine,so I bought it back ,and drive it almost every day. I LOVE THAT OLD TRUCK!
A couple years ago I picked up a tourquose 67W200 at an estate auction for $535.It showed 53000miles,and Im guessing that is all it has.It runs great! Its my wifes "Shabby Shic" truck and the family campmobile.
The last truck I bought was a tourguoise $350 67d100 Camper special{YES THEY EXIST!}.This truck was well optioned ,but has way too much cab rust. Its pretty much turned into a parts truck.
Gotta love them Sweptlines!
