heater valve on top of heater core

does anyone have any suggestions on how to get that valve to move mine is shut cannot get it open this is on 1971 d100 Thank you

You can get a new platic one from NAPA.

and i see NOS on eBay.

or use Terrys' BFH. :joker

UGH... this is like being in school again. What does BFH mean? :joker A new one would be the best thing, because "IF" you got it to move, it probably would leak anyway. The 'rust' or corrosion is most likely now keeping it from leaking.

:goodpost I agree with Jim. You might try disconnecting the
cable and working it on its own to make sure it isn't the problem.
If it moves freely, your valve is likely corroded in place.

For some reason, that reminded me of what my step grampa said one day when I noticed the water heater plumbing leaking.. and I quote "let it leak..eventually the rust will stop it" :lol: :lol: a couple months later NO leak :lol: :lol:


just go buy a new one...I had soaked one for the lincoln in PB blaster, wriggled it little by little, soaked it more and more...got it to move, along with the valve on the inside...got it cleaned up, put her on, and it shot a fine stream of coolant from the pivot point :pale was easier in the long run to buy a new one
