The lack of rear pics of damn near ANY car or truck is because of concerns that a bad guy, well-connected, could trace the tag and then find out the owner's address. Of course, the poster can either remove the tag while taking the pics, or white out the tag, if he really wanted to show the rear (or front) without displaying a tag number.

My '68 that went to north central TX in '08:

Did you know ..

In Oklahoma, they have the Ok state prisoners view the camera film from the toll road toll booth, they view the plates just to check and make sure they have a toll tag, etc

I never have understood the whole blocking out plate thing ?

It would be more likely if someone seen you driving, or parked and write down your number ..

That is an automated process. If you go through the PikePass lane without one, your vehicle is photographed automatically and a ticket for $199.00 is sent to you within 24 hours. That goes through the OK Turnpike Commission. The Department of Corrections is not involved in the process at all.

Well, as usual, it appears the completely UNACCOUNTABLE OTA is lying to us...yet again...assuming that article is indeed true.

I take damn near everything in the news with a grain of salt these days, regardless of the source.

I think that's downright silly especially on craigslist. If you are selling a vehicle you expect someone to come to your home to look at it. It's an inherent risk, why would I go through the trouble of asking my dmv guy for a favor when i can easily contact you find out where you live and cause all sorts of harm? The chances of a ninja jumping off a semi on the interstate and piercing your roof and ultimately your cranium with his kitana are much larger than someone finding out where you live based on a shot of your rear. I guess we should white out of tags when we go out for a drive... Here in the dirty jersey we have two tags so I guess im twice as likely to be slaugthered in my sleep as my truck gets stripped in paterson somewhere, eh?

in the spirit of things here is the '66 right when i got it with NM plates  ill take a current one up too, you internet bandits scare me none.

100 bro points if you can make out the this plate

How's that for a blind guy!

And grodr, you imply that I agree with the reason. But by the same token, why make $#!T easy for a bad guy? You have to display a tag to drive a vehicle. You do not have to display it to post a picture. Some choose not to. I take rear pics with a flash on, so a modern reflective tag is usually and completely whited out anyway.

My 69 about 6 years ago. Needs some touch up work (and a new tailgate and rear bumper). Those mirrors are long gone (drive up bank window lane + wife + manual steering). Tailgate handle is long gone. Safety chain hanger are now both installed. That plate hit the trash a couple years ago. And a lot more window stickers.

Whoever owned it before me very obviously backed into the kingpin on a fifth wheel trailer. The latching guts locked up, the strap mounts tore off, the edges are buckled and sprung... Tailgate really isn't worth fixing, but I don't think a tailnet would look good on one of these. I'm going to make a more pipe gate style for it, with the Dodge letters welded into the center. And the latches on the INSIDE this time, maybe spring loaded gate units sunk into the upper tubing.

My friend's 71 tailgate is worse, his ex-girlfriend hit a lightpole with the gate down...now he uses 2X12 slabs.

Funny damn thing is, u can simply run the vin thru the database courtesy of your cop buddy (no need to go to dmv). The sweptline registry currently lists the vin of about 1200 trucks - no lic plate needed!
