Fast trip around Paris

Post by tom-adc »

On
an August morning in 1978, French filmmaker Claude Lelouch mounted a gyro-stabilized camera to the bumper of a Ferrari 275 GTB and had a friend, a professional Formula 1 racer, drive at breakneck speed through the heart of Paris early in the morning. The film was limited for technical reasons to 10 minutes; the course was from Porte Dauphine, through the Louvre, to the Basilica of Sacre Coeur.

No streets were closed, for Lelouch was unable to obtain
a permit.

The driver completed the course in about 9 minutes, reaching
nearly 140 MPH in some stretches. The footage reveals him running real red lights, nearly hitting real pedestrians, and driving the wrong way up real one-way streets.

Upon showing the film in public for the first time,
Lelouch was arrested. He has never revealed the identity of the driver, and the film went underground. Turn on your sound and enjoy...

In reality, it was not a Ferrari but a Mercedes 6.9 sedan. And the vocals of it were dubbed in. look it up and you can see the Mercedes sedan with the camera mounted on it. Just thought Id pass on the information I found. :study

Fun to watch :clap ...Stupid to have done :shame .....After reading some of the messages posted by youtubers can't decide what car was used or if the camera being 4" off the pavement didn't add to the effect :thinking ......Some say the sound was dubbed, the mercedes 6.9 wouldn't have a 5-speed.....I think 140 mph is more likely 140 kph, still too fast....I promise you this, this feat wouldn't be accomplised here in 2009. Some "jimmy spencer" would take this clown out, :clap on purpose. I would....Tap the #@&%$# on the quarter panel as he/she went by & let physics take care of the rest.
