Hi guys

So I sign up for this National parts service search thing. I get two e-mails back but neither one addresses my request for a specific part. So being a person who works in the Tech industry and very aware of the signs of a possible scam I respond with a very straight forward message. Based on the fact that most scam artists will use free web e-mail accounts because it's impossible to track because you don't have to provide any real personal information to get an account.

What I'm wondering is:
- Why would a legitimate business only provide e-mail and phone? There is no website, no address and they are NOT listed as a vendor on the http://www.getusedparts.com website as far as I could tell.

- The calls me rude using bad grammar, bad spelling, poor sentence structure and incorrect punctuation. Yet he says right on his e-mail signature "SO IF YOU WANT DAMAGED GOODS PLEASE CALL OUR COMPETITORS"

- Still he blesses me and provides information for me to call if I want a part from him?! And of course he has the part but I can't have it because only he is allow to be rude and make accusations of his competitiors whom hes never met.

- Apparently I'm bound by some privacy statement. Sorry, If I can alert other to some business that won't provide a price, a image of the part and and calls me names I'm going to alert other buyers to the potential risk.

- Has anyone else ever done business with this place? Are they legit? Or has anyone had a bad experience with this place?

- And finally of course he has the part but I can't have it cause I'm rude. Yet he states in his e-mail signature that all other dealers have damage parts! It's a good thing thats not rude! If you want 40 year old parts that have no damage be sure to call this guy!

Sorry for the long winded post :2cents

Do you have the the part available or not? I'm not going to make a long distance call when I can get a response and image of the part over e-mail. If you want my business you need to provide the information. Otherwise I will consider it a scam and move on.

Thanks, Collin

Yeah, if something just "feels" fishy, I'd move on. No need to get wrapped up in a bunch of BS. If the guy is actually legit, he should probably look into getting some advice on dealing with his customer base and not come off sounding like a flake.

hello all my name is steve i am the 1 who this guy calls rude.and says i do not know how to phrase sentences and that i down grade our competition.to start off with i am a listed vender on getusedparts.com and we are a licensed corporation in the state of florida.and we have a federal tax ID and i have been doing this for many years.i receive as many as 400 e-mails a day i try to reach all of them but if i cant then i send a personalized response to get my name and number out there it is not meant to offend anybody and if it did i am sorry.but just to send someone a e-mail and call them a scam because he didnt want to make a long distance phone call is rude if you ask me and that is why i said move on because we deal in credit cards all day long and i do not need someone that right off the bat calls me a scam..because it always turns out the other way i am the 1 who gets scamed...........SORRY IF THIS OFFENDS ANYONE BUT I REPEAT I DO NOT LIKE BEING CALLED A SCAM I WORK 18-20 HOURS A DAY TO BUILD THIS COMPANY FOR JUST 1 PERSON TO RUIN IT.......I HAVE ALSO BEEN TOLD THAT IF HE CANT PROVE WHAT HE SAYS THEN I CAN SUE FOR SLANDER IF HE CAUSES ME FINANCIAL LOSSES BECAUSE HE IS MAD...thanks for reading this post and hope everyone keeps an open mind,,,,,,,steve,,,,,,,please reply i can take it.

Steve,
I stand by my statement above. I suggested this course of
action because things between you and your potential
customer didn't get off to a good start. There are two
sides to every story and your input is appreciated. I will
suggest that BOTH parties DIRECTLY involved in this
affair contact each other off the general board to see
if things can be smoothed out. We don't want this to
deteriorate into a crap throwing contest. :salut If, for
any reason, you don't agree with my suggestion, I welcome
you to contact me via your PM feature. :usa

No crap throwing necessary, just the facts. I just wanted inform people as to a business they may run across that operates in a very unprofessional manner.

I have never been angry over this. It's not even worth it. It seems to me Steve was angry. I just posted the entire mail thread. Nothing changed or left out. So people can decide for themselves and posted my opinion which I have a right to. It is up to United America Auto Parts Inc. to present themselves in a professional manner.

My statement in the thread was "Otherwise I will consider it a scam and move on." I didn't say you were a scam Steve. I was referring to the e-mail I recieved which was very child like and lacking any real information but a phone number. I said if they couldn't provide the information I asked for I would consider the mail a scam. Clearly Steve you don't understand what slander is or how the law works.

I deal with 200-400+ mails a day myself being in the tech industry. I don't send people back mail telling them I will help them if they make a second effort to contact me. It seems you had time to track down this post, sign up for the forum and type of a lengthily e-mail. But no time to send me any information about a very specific part I need that I would have bought instantly had a received reasonable credentials, a price, an image of the part, shipping cost and where it would be shipped from.

My unsolicited advice to United America Auto Parts Inc. is:
1. Loose the god bless crap. I could care less what your religious origin is nor could other customers out there of various religions in this country. Use a professional signature to increase your creditability.
2. Loose the happy faces. Use a professional signature to increase your creditability.
3. Remove the negative jab at your competitors from your e-mail signature. There are plenty of reputable companies out there who are far more professional and don’t sell damage goods. They may take offense to your claim "SO IF YOU WANT DAMAGED GOODS PLEASE CALL OUR COMPETITORS" and sue you for slander.
4. Get a 1-800-number. They are cheap.
5. Get a website so the business has a face and tell people where you operate from so you have some legitimacy.

Thanks for the advice. I have been looking for my parts elsewhere. I to work very long days like most people and don’t have time to play musical e-mail or spend all my time defending myself on a forum board.

Everyone here in the Dodge forum, is very nice, helpful and shares the same passion. It was not my intention to bring an argument to the forums that is not constructive. There will be no other responses from me on this subject. I consider it a pointless circular argument. If you think you really have a lawsuit. Then go get a lawyer and stop making idle threats.

Sell your parts to people who aren’t rude. Have a nice life Steve :salut

interesting dialog here.

if anyone has doubt about a person like John said - it is an easy solution - don't do business with them.
