New member from Michigan

Post by Kahill »

Hello everyone. I just rescued a 1967 D100 longbox from Kentucky today. Its got a 318 with 3 on the tree, and a bad ratrod paint job trying to draw attention away from all the rust. I'll post a pic when I figure out how. I had a 68 when I was a teenager. Time to see what I can do with one of these fine trucks now that I have a lot more resources. I've decided to focus on the cab rust first, the step rockers in particular. Does anyone know of any yards in the Michigan area that might have a good bed and doors?

First off welcome, Second a member and truck owner is Kenny Exline over in PA. He makes the best floors, cab mounts tail gates etc, you get the picture. Good luck.

Big thanks for the Exline tip. I was looking at his sheetmetal. The complete rocker steps are spendy, but it would be nice to have that thicker 18ga steel in that area. Also, that custom rear roll pan is perfect. He's also got door skins. Maybe I won't be looking for new doors.

Your doors will be rotted on the bottoms, which is part of the inner panel and wont be fixed with a new outer skin.

Just ordered everything I need from Kenny. I've gone the scrap yard way before and learned the hard way, IF someone makes quality repop parts.

Post up some pictures when you can!

Here are the photobucket photos. Looks better in the photos, there's a lot of work to be done.

Looks like a pretty good start Kahill. Hang on to both those bumpers. They look pretty straight.
