under bed gas tank

Post by vabchmopar »

Does anyone know of a gas tank that will fit in the spare tire position under the bed and has a top filler neck so it can be refueled from inside the bed . Has anyone tried the chevy tank from LMC?

Thanks for the link, You put that tank all the way in the rear of the frame. I was trying to place a tank in between the shock tower and the next frame cross member on my 65 d100 short bed. But I will look at your idea. Thanks again.

When I was having trouble with the tank in the Town Wagon, I started looked at the JAZ fuel cells. You can order them by size and by filler position and I am pretty sure we can get them with the correct sender for MOPAR AND place the filler almost anywhere we want. I was looking at about $500 for the tank, filler, fitting and mounting for the TW. I haven't done it yet, I got the original tank repaired.

FYI, I have successfully installed the LMC under the bed gas tank kit for a 63-66 chevy in my 65 d100 short bed. I had to move the aft crossmember back 5 inches to make room, this is not that hard of a task, this crossmember is rivet in and the lower hole when you move it aft is already drilled in the frame.

Every photo I try to post says it's too large to upload the file. The filler is in the bed, with a pop-up filler tube that will be in the bed, Bed is not back on the truck yet If you want photos send me a private message and I will send you some.

The top of both wide and ute beds lines up with the ledge under the window, which is also the top of the door.

I struggled to get my bed/cab alignment correct. I added spacers to the cab side to get correct. There is no adjustment on the bed blocks,

Did you build a stainless steel bumper??? I love that! The diamond-tread aluminum under the tailgate is nice, too.

It has been a struggle to get my truck looking as straight and nice as yours...two summers ago, I had to weld new rear cab mounts in...after of course, fabricating them by hand.

Use Osage Orange instead. I have a trunk drying right now to make bed blocks, and another to make bed boards out of. Both of my old Dodges need new wood, and I only want to do either one once. Have been cutting the wood strips to do a cherry headliner in the 69, and a mahogany one in the 49 (to match the armrests/door pulls I made years ago). Decades behind schedule on the 49, only years behind on the 69... :pale
If I didn't build it, it ain't mine.
