i was out back looking for some parts for a fellow sweptliner, stuff i KNOW i had. looked all over the place, storage, garage, in the house, in dads truck even. no where to be found. so im thinking, maybe i forgot i already sold it. later, it was bugging me. so i searched my emails, nope, no record of it ever being sold, so i go searching again, this time with the womans help. turns out, someone has helped them self to my parts truck while i was either on vacation, or at work. :banghead :banghead upon further searching for other bits and pieces, i find im missing quite a bit of stuff. :censored :censored funny thing is, its all dodge related parts. didnt even touch the chevy stuff. im a bit pissed to say the least. and from now on, my rotty gets to stay out front while im at work OFF LEASH!!! but i guess i can take comfort in the fact that my thief has good taste. not that i take any comfort in some sorry %#@!!! taking my stuff. but if he comes back for any more parts, ill let him negotiate with mandy. see how far the sorry bastard gets when shes done with him.

Trey, set up a camcorder or some other sort of camera before sending out the Rotty! Cathching them in the act on film = more jail time for the punk. Sending the dog out unleashed risks her safety and yours(in court) as well. :2cents

I had a car stolen off my driveway about 5 years ago. It was a VERY rare muscle car.....ALLSTATE (your in good hands my @#%) ended up cutting me a check for $3500 after 2 years in court. I feel your pain dude. I think it's about as close as I think I could feel to being raped without going to prison.

this wasnt a random junk thief dave. the stuff im missing is all useable sweptline parts. some trim pieces, dash pad, emblems, tail light lenses, and some other small stuff i had in a box. like i said, the chevy stuff of dads wasnt touched, and its all big heavy cast iron stuff for the 46. my alum wheels wernt even moved either. makes me think someone knew what they were looking for. sad part is, had the sorry sob stopped in and introduced him self, i would have probably given him the parts he took. now if i catch his @#% hes gonna wish to hell he drove a toyota!!! aint nothin worse then messin with a southern texas rednecks truck parts!! and i aint worried about the dog gettin hurt, shes been with me for 10 years, and thru many tough situations, the old gal knows how to handle herself. not to mention, if mandy goes off, then meja (my boxer american bull cross) and el diablo (my jet black american pit bull male) will be in short step over the fence to help. poor bastard better hope im home to call them off! mandy is just a warning to not get on the land, el diablo on the other hand, has a bit of an attitude! LOL!!

Trey, how much advertising( talking up the sweptlines to others in town you meet) have you done? I know Las Cruces is not a big metropolis, maybe 100.000+, could be someone you know. Just a thought. Jim

I agree with Jim, you might want to do some snooping... Would you recognize any of the parts if you saw them? What I mean by that is, any markings on them that would make them stand out?

eBay?? Have you checked eBay?

Great Idea can be setup relitivly cheaply. Only thing is would need to be infra red.
Down side the person/s would need to be recognisable ie: known to somebody or a local.
In Australia you must have signage if you have Video Survielance, so just check your laws if you deceide to go down that path.

The dog idea is also great with the exception they get bitten then they sue you.

man i do a lot of talking when i meet fellow sweptliners. about the site, my truck, parts, pretty much everything. unfortunatly, theres nothing real distinguishing about any of the parts. well, the tail light lense is recognizable, it has a peace sign shaped crack in it. but i figured as far out of town as i live, and that fact i dont give out my address, just my email or cell number, i never thought id have this issue. im going today after work to make a spin thru the lanlords "wetback town" as i call it. see if any old dodges are laying behind a trailer somewhere. this is where i found my chain saw last year. but like i said, theres nothing distinguising about any of it, so its gonna be kinda hard to proove anything unless i catch the *#%^@!$ red handed. :thinking

Video survaliance is kinda spendy for the likelyhood of theft again. Signs and maybe some fake cameras mounted around might help, but the signs would have to read in more languages than just English, if ya know what I mean. The dogs could bring upon a law suit, and that ain't worth it, as the criminals seem to have more rights than we do anymore. :censored

I would consider an 8' fenced area around the rigs. Put the dogs in there and let the crooks have at it. The only chance they have then is if they bring meat and a buddy along to feed them and preoccupy them. Some dogs fall for it, but if your dogs won't take food from a stranger, they're toast. :Thumbsup

The only good criminal is a dead one in my book, but I wouldn't bury them. The forest critters gotta eat too ya know! I really hope the dogs catch the :censored for you, leaving you with a little "clean-up" to do. :Thumbsup

If you can make a list of what's gone, I'm sure others on this board will watch for them appearing for sale somewhere. I know I will. Good luck man, and remember, aim for the head! :D :Thumbsup

Burial in the desert is a bad idea as it takes a whole lot longer to decompose then you might think. However if you know someone who hase access to a crematory  .......
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely with a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, beer in one hand, cigar in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming,"what a ride&quot

ACTUALLY...... If you check the info from 'The Body Farm' ....the higher the heat the faster the decomp. Besides, out of sight out of mind (yours and others). As the dirt settles, add more as needed. Shaken not stirred. :Thumbsup

You're west of the Mississippi River. Meaning you are in a range law state. Put up a couple signs posting the place. Then you can legally shoot anyone who enters without the escort of a US marshall WITH a US Supreme Court warrant. Check the books...it's perfectly legal. Even in a candy @#% liberal cry baby state like Washington.

My shop was raided by a thief while I was off on a run one weekend. Count yourself lucky... I lost 2 Knuckles, 2 pans, 2 Chiefs, 2 Scouts, an Evo, a couple Sportsters, and a 1915 Henderson (or Excelsior, not much difference back then). And the remains of a 57 Chrysler Hemi car. I'm still trying to recover from almost $500K worth of toys taking a hike. Along with ALL my tools. That was in early 1994. Should have mined the perimeter (yes, I know how).

If I didn't build it, it ain't mine.

I feel your pain there man. I'm waiting for Oregon to be renamed to "The Northern Territory of the People's Republic of California"

That sonds like a real professional hit there. I would assume that even with 3 or 4 guys and a Peterbilt it would take some time. Unless you live waaaaay out in the country or something, I'd be tempted to start shooting the neighbors until I got some leads.

Some days I think that living in the boonies, off the grid, with a military style perimiter, just sounds like the best answer to this :censored ed up country we're living in. I know one thing for sure, I'm thinking of learning Spanish, 'cause Mexico is looking better all the time.

Really sorry about that loss man! :pale My :2cents on that.
