2nd ammendment

Post by 65alive »

Is anyone else concerned about the gun control legislation facing us in the near future? If you are, I strongly urge you to contact your representitives to tell them you oppose the gun control bill. We are all gonna have to push hard to make this work.

Good post 65alive. I just watched the NRA report regarding the ct shooting that set off all the gun control stuff. They invited everyone to do the same along with powerful statements I would highly recommend looking it up if you haven't seen it. I have let my congressman know my concern and I'm glad to hear there are more people out there with similar concern hopefully our country still does has people concerned about our safety. Thanks for the post!

I think it is important for everyone to make their voice heard. That's the point of democracy, rule by the voice of the people. Whether we are for or against this issue, as long as we make our voice heard I will respect whatever outcome. We all want to have things our way but America is about the people as a whole, not individuals. Unfortunately this may mean that the majority may see things a way I feel is "wrong" or "immoral," but that's how our forefathers designed this government. But they also gave us freedom. So if I no longer like the direction this country is headed I am free to leave, conform, or rebel. I just hope we can all learn to get along and work together. Good luck with your cause JC, I wish you success.

While I believe in the second amendment and am against any new gun control laws, I do believe some we have need revisiting and alteration. As was eluded to, it is not 1776 anymore, which is why we need EVEN MORE the right protected to freely carry. There will be blind statements and 'fact quoting' from the liberal side, and there will be forceful retaliation and argument from the conservative side to match. Somewhere in the middle lies the ability for all to get along........concealed carry and its PROPER institution.

All of these horrible 'gun crimes' that have happened lately; where have they happened? In GUN-FREE zones, where even concealed carry is not allowed. Do you honestly believe some deranged whack-a-loon would walk into a place where concealed carry is encouraged or allowed and get so much damage done before (in most cases) he offs himself? NO. Do you think we would have as many instances if the killer knew he stood a great chance of being killed himself before he got any real damage done? No again.

PROPER concealed carry tactics and strategies are required versus more gun control/gun bans. Remove the 'no carry' zones and the 'free for the taking' shooting hot-spots vanish. If guns are outlawed, only the criminals will have them (look at England and Germany and their escalating crime rates).

But hey, this is just the 2 cents from someone who served their CONSTITUTION (military) to protect the rights it grants its citizens versus an armchair politician citizen who hasn't sacrificed at all for their rights.

VERY WELL said sweptlineson! I couldn't agree more. One thing I will add though, I don't mind one bit if they make gun owner rights a little more thorough. Like a required safety course, aptitude test, etc. I will gladly jump through hoops to prove my eligibility to be a responsible gun owner.

Australia just went through very stringent gun control, and their crime rate has spiked. I don't want to see our great nation brought to that point. I'm usually not the type to make a fuss about things, but I can't sit down and be quiet anymore. I realize it's not 1776 anymore, however the need for me to protect myself and family is the same... and as was pointed out earlier, probably more so than in 1776. Let's not forget the free speach we hold dear was given to us BECAUSE honorable men had modern firearms. I hope and pray we don't have to defend that like we are having to defent the 2nd ammendment.

It's spelled "defend" and "amendment".
And, this discussion does not belong on this board.
