aluminum grill
Hi guys, i've stripped the anodizing off my grill and sanded it with 400 grit, and am now in the process of brushing it with a scotch bright to give it a brushed look. My question is can i clear coat it and have it not chip off?

There's a few products out there, one I like is Por-15 Glisten PC. There's also permalac, imeron and everbrite. Probably best to do a few google searches and see which one you like the best

How did you get the clear anodizing off ? wait a minute, let me rephrase that question.
What method did you use to remove the clear anodizing from the aluminum grill ?

Re: aluminum grill
well, cool ! Thanks for the tip. I've heard folks talk about using red devil lye, but didnt get clear instructions, and part of the story was that the real trick was knowing how long to leave it in the mix. Too long, and the lye would eat up the aluminum. Scary stuff to be learning on.

Re: aluminum grill
Doc, the purpose of removing the clear anodizing is to polish the aluminum. After that it needs to be coated to keep it from oxidizing.

Re: aluminum grill
The grille looks awesome. What oven cleaner did you use? I don't know if it matters or not, but I've got some Easy Off laying around here that I'm going to try.
