Rifles? Any gun owners on the forum?

Post by magnumcid »

Springtime! That means hitting the trails with the truck (the S10 for now, ha) and the range with with my rifles. Anyone else do any recreational target shooting (or hunting)?
I'm from the good 'ol People's Republic of Canukistan, so nothing crazy, I've got a Browning X-Bolt Composite Stalker I picked up used (barely) from a gun show in Montreal. .300 Winchester Magnum. Added a 50mm Nikon Monarch 4-16x BDC scope. And I have a 2009 Polytech M305 (M14) I got new from a local dealer a week ago. 7.62x51 NATO. Standard 20 round mags chopped to 5 in accordance with federal law. Big brother knows best. :banghead

I wouldn't recommend posting on the WORLD WIDE WEB for ALL TO SEE, what you may or may not own.

Let 'em watch.

The original patriots didnt worry whether King George was watching/listening.

Bout time we started demanding our freedoms again.

The one rifle I have always coveted is an octagonal barreled Henry 40 cal rifle.......just looks awesome.

Why? I'm a member of CanadianGunNutz and people post pictures there, it's well documented that the anti-gun lobby sends "spies" to the site.

"Big Brother" already knows exactly what I own. Both are registered. They know where I live, and the make, model, serial number, and caliber of both.

Canada. We don't have any rights.

That being said, maybe I'll delete the pictures anyway.

I used to have a bunch of guns, til i had my daughter. I miss my old .303 british (what seemed like 10 feet long and wood all the way down the barrel  ) then i had a SKS, 2 matching Ruger P89DCs. Had a hungarian AK47 that had beautiful dark wood trim. And lastly i had a AR15, that thing was fun, and accurate as hell

Also what i believe Terry was getting at is that if you post pictures of what you have, people may break into your house to steal it (some people in this world are dumb enough to do that, so dont think it cant happen). I dont think he was trying to say anything about Big Brother watching you......of course i may be way off base, but Terry will correct me if i am wrong :Thumbsup

Nice! The AK47 and AR15 would be illegal here, though. I originally went to buy an SKS but got the M14 instead  . I was going to get a new Chinese SKS but he had a really nice later Russian one (chromed bore) for less. I like the Russian bayonet.

Nobody gets shot breaking into a house in Canada. It's not legal to defend yourself, or your property.

My brother bought a mosin-nagant last year that we have been shooting stuff with.....he bought it new army surplus
FYI....if you ever wanted to know why the russians lost the war, go shoot a mosin....absolutely no accuracy  i think thats why you can still buy new army surplus ones for around $80

Hahaha! I didn't know you could buy new rifles for that price! Guy that deals with surplus here sells new SKSs for $190. My mother bought her youngest a single shot .22/410 (interchangeable barrels) and it cost something like $140.

What!! :shame. First shot out of my K91 Mosin nailed dead center at 150 yards. But then I couldn't do it again. Also, if its an M44 with the folding bayonet, they shoot better with it out.

I have to agree on the Mosin Nagants. They can be tack drivers.
A really nice version of the Mosin Nagant 91/30 is the M39. Early
in the 2nd World War, the Finnish army was successful in throwing
the Russian advances back and, as a consequence, captured lots
of troops/equipment. The 91/30s were given the M39 designation
and received nice scant grip stocks. :Thumbsup Lots of them were
the "B Barrel" and Tula Arsenal rifles which are considered to be on
par with any other nation's bolt action rifles at the time. :Thumbsup

While I'm a big fan of my M16, personally I carry a S&W 990L which is a modified Walther 9mm. I have my conceal/carry, and I do! Wife can shoot too!

I'd still prefer to plink rabbits and squirrels with my Crossman pellet gun, mostly because it doesn't turn the game into 'red mist' when you shoot it.

I'm really interested in the Springfield XD chambered in either .45 or .357. Wife wants that cute little pink Taurus .380...

AR-15's arent illegal here, I have one. The AK-47 is legal too if you have prohibited class. Gun laws are screwy on both sides of the border, while all my handguns have to have at least a 4" barrel, 25 miles south of me it doesnt matter. I have a 12ga shotgun with a 8 1/2" barrel and from what I've heard thats illegal in the states.

If you break into a house in the prairies you have a very real chance of getting shot! Mine included  I've heard of people getting hassled for defending themselves around here but not charged (yet) Try that in Ontario or Quebec though and you're fresh meat :pale

My bad on the AR15. I thought it was a full auto rifle for some reason. Even so, a lot of semi autos are prohibited for nothing other than being based on a full auto design, like the aforementioned AK-47. Recently a certain .22 caliber rifle was banned/confiscated from Canadian owners by the RCMP for just LOOKING like an AK-47 (using data from the not-yet-dismantled long gun registry, of course). Also, it was my understanding that it is not possible to obtain a prohibited license unless you already own a prohibited firearm and it is not legal to own one unless you have a prohibited license? I AM from Quebec by the way :pale

Yes the looking like a ak-47 is a BS knee-jerk reaction. Which .22 was seized? If you owned what the gov. calls prohibited firearms before the cut-off date then you would be grandfathered in and can keep your prohibs for as long as you live. You must always own at least one prohib though but can buy and sell whatever you want. 12(6) license. You can leave your prohibs to your kids and they would get a 12(7) license, they can possess them forever but can't buy any. 12(5) is the license for owning full auto, thompsons, uzi, etc. Stupid? Yep!

One other thing I thought of was that I've heard Americans can't buy Chinese firearms like Norincos. I may be wrong though and I'm sure someone will correct me if I am. Its to bad because they are great for new shooters, they are decent guns (not great) and for under $300 for a full size 1911 they are a good deal.

The guy I bought my M14 from mentioned that.

An M14, as I know it, is the U.S. Military select fire
7.62x51 service rifle. Are you saying you own one
of these or do you mean the civilian version of the
U.S. Military M14, which is the M1A? Or perhaps
something completely different..... :thinking

Looks like the Armi Jager AP80. Also, the Walther G22 apparently.
