Rermembering someone else's dream
Hi everyone,
Alittle over a year ago I came on the site under the name sweptline69 and informed everyone that my husband, the owner of a 1970 Dodge D100, was killed. Our son was born shortly after and is now a happy, hyper toddler. I have begun seeing someone and rebuilding my life. Though I still want to restore my husbands truck and give it to our son one day. Here is my problem. I need a driver door that I cannot find anywhere. I need to replace it before I start the body work, its totally rotted out. Everyday that I see that truck just sitting there it breaks my heart, my husband loved that truck so much and it was his dream to restore it. My dad has been helping a little with it, though he never really met my husband. He got it running after it had been sitting for a year. It was so wonderful to hear that 318 plunkin. =) Anyways if anyone knows where I can get body parts please let me know!

Have you placed an ad in the Parts Wanted section yet?
If not, that's a good place to start.

Took your advise, just put the word out and looked there. I guess its the waiting game now. That truck has so much potential, gotta fix it soon! (If money allows that is.) Thanks!

Re: Rermembering someone else's dream
Wow, so much has changed since then. I am alot better now then I was then. It took my a long time to come to peace with my husbands death, had alot of help along the way. Now I have someone new in my life and he treats me and my son like gold, and is really good about listening to the stories of when my husband was around. Isnt life funny how things seem to fit in a way one never thought it would? But yeah so this whole time the ol Dodge has been sitting in my back yard just dying to be driven. My dad got it runnin about a month and a half ago, it was so nice to hear that truck again. But there is so much to be done and unless I win the lottery I dont know how Im gunna do it all. A piece at a time I guess. Starting with a new ignition switch and new keys, then hoping for a door and tailgate so I can sand and primer it. Then the brakes and hubs and wheel cylindars are next. And etc lol. Im a big sweptline fan, I was destined to come back =)

Please keep us (all) updated on needs & wants, I've got a few extra parts/bits after 3-4 months of ownership.

Still looking for a driverside door...I was told that before the Dodge came into my husbands family, a farmer owned it and left it sitting in a field with the door ajar in the '80s. Rotted out the door and the running board.

Also, look around for a recent thread about a NC salvage yard with trucks in it. Maybe someone can grab a door.
Oh, here you go:
