First check the coolant level. System has to be full for the heater to work. If you can't add anymore antifreeze, heater core is probably clogged and need replaced.
Check coolant level, radiator cap for system pressurization, heat valve to see if it is opening, if these are all OK flush and backflush the heater core...flush until clear through both heater hose connections.
