Nasty Post

Well this morning a human spammer came by the site and posted a pretty vulgar pornographic picture in the forum. Thanks to Dave (Cowboy) and Ben (CSS Registry) they were all over it and got it deleted and informed me of the issue.

I've decided to take a pretty drastic measure and locked down the new user registration. I now have to approve all new members. Yea more work for me, but i can't have that crap in our forum.

i agree that stuff dont belong here, but do you think such a drastic measure needs to be taken? after all, how long has the forum been here compared to the number of situations that needed attention? sounds like an over reaction to me, just my meaningless

we're being hammered by spammers lately. some automated that troll for sites with weak log-in protocols and others like the porn spammer with nothing else to do with their time.

seems like a prudent and modern form of action to me.

I have to agree with Both Scott(hellbelly) & Ben , we have been hit way to much here of late & the porn was the last straw in my book , If soctt does it , it should take just a few minutes of time for someone to regester here , theres times my grand kids set & read with me here & there to young for that now

im just saying, we havent had much of this problem at all. why put the extra work on honcho? if the mods are doing thier job, then just like this last incedent it will be squashed fast with little to no knowledge to the general community that it even happened. i usually get here bout 6:30 every morn, logged in or not. i have yet to see any spam or nasty pics, that means cowboy was sittin here with his cup of coffee and nailed it before anyone else got to see it. which means the mods, or at least a couple of them, are doing what they are supposed to. so why add yet another regulation thats just going to slow things down and make more work?? seems like it is working fine. when the soup tastes great, dont add another onion

BTW, dave...next time copy the pic first and email it to me

trey it won't hender any member but will make it a bit safer for all the members , it will just slow down the new people trying to reg a few seconds & help lower a lot of the troll's /spamers , the trolls won't take the time to reg & have to open a email saying go for it welcome
