'67 D100, swing and a miss!

Post by fakirone »

Sweptline newb here, but I'm in love! I have been lurking here off and on for some time and felt that it was time to join and introduce myself.

My story:
A while back I put my boat on Craig's List looking to trade it for an old sedan, truck, pretty much anythings with wheels for a project and the only response I got was from a guy wanting to trade me a "69 D100. To be honest at first I was thinking "a Dodge, no way!", but then I started looking at the lines and my mind slowly started to change.

It's not that I have never owned a Mopar before, I have had both a '75 Dodge Dart Swinger (loved that POS) and a '68 Dodge Dart GT (via my gullible girlfriend:D), but I just had never even looked at the trucks. My loss. Since then, you can say that I've become a fan and I am frickin' in love with the '65-'67 Pie Plate Swepties.

I thought that I had found my truck and went and looked and what appeared to be a fairly straight '67 D100 short box with a /6, but when I got there that body was more crooked than the block, there wasn't a straight panel on the truck. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

I will find my Pie short box one of these days, and when I do I hope to be a valued contributor to this forum. My buddy and I have some huge plans for my truck once I find it. IFS, slammed, chopped, shaved, ect, and I finally have access to the shop to do it all!

Thanks for listening and glad to meet you all.

Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you, I've busy at work and clearly need to change the notification settings for this board.

How far would I be willing to go? I guess that depends on the truck and the price. If I found a super straight truck at a good price I'd go pretty far, I have access to a triailer and my Expedition is a decent tow rig. My thing is I'm really only looking for a '64-'67 short bed and I would like the body to be straight(ish). I don't really give crap about the interior or drive train.
A good buddy of mine works a fab shop here in the A and we can make most anything, I just don't feel like spending a million hours on sheetmetal, I'd much preffer spending my time doing the IFS and drop.

Anyways, if you here of a straight pie I'd love to know.

Thanks again, and I really enjoy this board and y'all's enthusiasm.

Welcome! And another person in the ATL.

I'll keep my eye out. There aren't many old Dodges down here though. I went to Baton Rogue, LA to get my Swepty. I even almost made it all the way back home (long story).

You're right about that, I see a few here and there, but not many.
