I am sad today

Post by DB69 »

I am very sad today because I had to say good bye to my two faithful Beagles Molly and Missy. :pale
They were 13 year old sisters, and I had Molly for 13 1/2 years and Missy for 12 1/2( I got Missy when she was a year old from someone who didn't really want her and mistreated her) and Molly I got as a 5 pound puppy, and I was lucky enough to have these two girls share themselves and spend the rest of their lives with me, and to let me enjoy both their love and companioship, and to give back to them a part of what they totally gave me.
Missy had kidney problems, and Molly had heart problems and cataracts, and neither one was enjoying a good quality of life anymore. I could not stand to see them suffer and be sick. I brought them home and they are buried in the back yard.
My heart is breaking because I feel like I have lost the two best friends that I have ever had. I realize that our forum is mostly about our Dodge and Fargo trucks, however this is my 400th post and I would like to dedicate it to both Molly and Missy and to tell all of you about all the love, companionship and fun they both gave me for all the time that we lived together. I hope that I made their lives as good as they made mine.
I am all alone now and I feel like you guys here are a family to me and I needed to let you know about my girls. They were so very special, and I loved them with all my heart and I know they loved me more than that!
Thanks for understanding :salut

Your life as well as their lives were touched with the special friendship that can only be experianced by man and his dogs. Their passing will take time and you'll always have a moment when they would always do something to make you feel better, but they are still with you in your heart. My prayers will be with you.

you have my condolences.

animals can be much closer to us than some relatives. they are always there for us and never complain - except when you step on a toe :o)

i had a weimaraner named Maggie that was 10 years old and suffering from seizures. it was very hard to put her down but it was best thing for her. about a year later we went to petsmart to pick up cat food and found a great dog. we went back the next day to adopt him and ended up taking his kennel buddy as well.

my point is your feeling are very real and you'll need some time to heal but there is always an animal out there that needs a good loving home. i know i still care deeply for old Maggie but Homer and Hector have helped fill that void and then some.

All who have visited me from this forum have met my lab JOJO. She was named by my then 2 yr old grandson. It seemed to be all he could say. She is the best dog I've ever had and gives me unconditional love. She is always happy to see me and lets me know it. She is 8 now and in good health but I know the inevitable. I have lost good dogs over the years and it does get better with some time, but I've said this before "I care more for my dog than I do many humans". She's nicer to me. I will be thinking about your loss and wishing it weren't so. Dan

My condolences.

I too have a dog that's very special to me and I know one day that I will have to part with her too. I already rescued her from a certain death back around 2000 and I hope she's as happy with her life as I am now that I rescued her and I know I'll have a bad time of it too when she departs this world some time in the future.

I think most of us probably understand your pain.

We had to let our 9 yr old Newfoundland, Bailey, go this spring.
We adopted her when she was 3 and she instantly became an
equal member of the family. We knew our time with her would
be short, the big dogs go quicker, but that didn't help much
when the time came. I was just as much a mess as when I was
20 yrs old and lost the Cocker Spaniel I had since I was 4 yrs old.

I understand. :salut

I would like to thank all of you for your care and understanding!
The pain becomes a little less every day, but the love I shared with Molly and Missy is still strong in my heart.
As 68Dodge1 last posted on this thread about meeting Molly and Missy at the rainbow bridge, I will live the rest of my life in hope that will actually happen. Thinking of that puts a smile on my face and also in my heart, thinking of them as young pups with wagging tails and how they enjoyed kissing my face and being hugged by me! I sure miss those greetings! :pale
Thanks again everyone! :salut

Its very hard to lose someone you love. I say someone because to me my german shepard was not a dog, but a part of my family. I had to put her down at 14 years old, due to bone cancer. We got her right after my only brother died. She was with me for over half of my life, and i will always miss her.

I know how you feel, and as strange as it sounds, they did their job. Its like they seem to know that they're helping you. I was in a deep depression after my brother died, and just recently got over it, then my dog died. She served her purpose, be my friend and help me get through the pain, and it worked.

my condolences......

Tom.... it stings a little less as the months go by.... the wife & I had to put
our 15yr old cat and our oldest black lab [only 9yrs :pale ] just a few weeks
apart. Both had cancer..... our cat had a long life.... our dog should have
had several more years but we enjoyed the years that she gave us.

My sister had to put her 11yr old golden retriever down a couple of weeks
ago..... same cancer as our lab had :pale . The world would be better if
pets had the same life expectancy as humans.... they're much easier than
humans to get along with most of the time

Sorry for your losses....
John
