I drive my swepty everyday! Sometimes I drive it just to drive it, I took my wife out last night
and cruised around a bit. Never fails, EVERY time I stop at a gas station, someone has to ask
me if I hate driving it since fuel is so high priced...LMAO! I just tell them that I have a decent
job and worrying about the current gas price is a waste of time  After all, you can worry all
you want to, and it's only gonna go up :thinking

Lately I drive my truck everyday about to work. Even more since my wife got a job.

I get plenty of looks - maybe they are worried of catching some rust related disease?? Or that It barks the tires on every corner

mine's been down for the rebuild way to long!! but i drive it several times a week when its together. i'd rather drive it than my suburban, and they get about the same mileage. i did pick up a Nissan 240SX for a cheap hooptie. it great on gas, but there's no "Manly Man" feeling about driving up someplace & getting out of it.

The wife and I took the little people up to Enoch Lake over the weekend. Its 36 miles from my door to the shore. Not what you would call a relaxing weekend. Its alot of work chasing three two year olds around the mountians. But when it comes time to pass out, The old Dodge sure makes a great home.

I drive mine every day. Even if its just around the block a few times to test something I have fixed and terrorize the neighborhood with my half length exhaust and 30"Cherry Bombs.

Shes been sitting this last week while I rebuild/recondition the carb :(

Well, I used to drive mine at least 2-3 times a week, either to the golf course or just for errands. I don't think that the cost of gas would have anny effect on how much I'd drive her. At least once every two weeks I find a reason to go out and sit in the cab. Is it me or do older cars seem to have a certain smell that new cars just don't? I love it, what ever it is. I miss driving it so much that I'm even considering taking it somewhere to have it fixed. With the twins and long hours, I can't seem to find the time to even get out and find out what's wrong...

HighDesertDodge those are some great pics, looks like y'all are really enjoying the home on wheels there, that is just fantastic!!!
My truck hasn't been driven in a while, shame I know. Because of my work schedule, I am not able to get down to my Granny's house, (where the truck is kept), as often as I would like. I drove the truck as a daily driver all last summer when I had the transmission rebuilt in my car. I put a few miles on it then, going to work and, at the time, school. It was amazing to me that I could just jump in a vehicle as old as that truck is and use it as a daily driver with no problems, heck it even had a couple of rattles that went away as I drove it more. This Sunday I will visit my Granny and the truck, I will definetly drive it some then, maybe have to bring her home with me for a while.

Just got my truck shipped down from oregon and drove it out to my dads place. Felt good to be driving it but christ does it run like crap :pale Lifted the hood and plugs are bad, points, cap, and rotor. Carb needs help. My dad say we just need to clean it cuz its a carter and they run forever but after catching fire and having to use a fire extinguisher I think I might need a new carb. Once I get it running better its time to sand and paint. :Thumbsup

Hopefully some more, since I found a little bitty problem that wasn't letting me go very far before it would crap out - I had a secondary coil wire shorting at the coil, and it would kill the truck after just a couple of minutes. Fixed it tonight - a little road test in the morning!

My 64 short wide is a daily driver. She is old and a bit finiky, but thats why i love her. A leanin 6 in a row makes her go, with a 3 on the tree. she regularly sees the highway. and i just got a 70 short wide with a /6 and an auto combo for the wife. the guy says it hasnt been started for nearly 7 years. but it run when parked. and a bit of tinkering and she should be good to go as well. A pair of sweptys to hit shows in and around central oregon. that should be a sight.

This coming week we have a lot of yard work to do plus some hauling so no more sitting idle in the garage.

I finally go tabs on my truck and got the title switched over. So with the newly rebuilt carb we hit the road today. Drove for over an hour with no particular place to go. Sporting a radiator leak and no thermostat :)

She ran real good in 80 degree weather and wing windows are a real treat when you don't have air. I stopped by the local top soil/rock place and surveyed the goods. Wasn't interested in hauling any back today but I sure could if wanted to!

My soul mate decided my truck needed a name. When I got her she said I spend more time with the truck than her. I think she is jealous. So she has named her "FERN". A fitting name for a green truck that was sold and resides in the NW. We have Ferns in our back yard and it seems appropriate for a late 60s truck

i posted earlier that i picked up a 70 shorty for my wife and that i was gonna try to get it started (sitting for about 7 years). well about a pint of marvel oil in the cylinders new gas and battery, she fired to life!! smoked like a s.o.b. for about 6-7 minutes, now seems to run good. probably run better after tune up. havnt driven it (flat spots on tires from sitting) ill swap off my set later to take it for a spin after i check out the brakes and other safety stuff.
