Put exhaust on the D300

Post by Goldie »

Most of you know I have an 18,000 mile 63 D300 Stakebed. Nice old undisturbed farm truck. Anyhow, I located original exhaust for it, the only thing that rusted on the truck, and over the weekend, put it and the replacement for the exhaust manifold that had cracked, on the truck. It sat there and idled like brand new. I know there isn't much call for a 45 year old 1 ton stakebed, but I like it a lot and it is a blueprint for how these old trucks were built. When I say undisturbed, it has it's original tires on it. I will have to go thru the brakes, replacing whl cylinders and hoses, but not bad for a vehicle that old.
Ben and I have gleand a lot of info about correct paints and plating from this old boy for our HPP projects. I hope to be able to drive it to the Nationals this year. I'm saving up for the 7 tires I need.

I didn't do it and if I did I don't remember.

Im going to be putting new exhaust on the D300 motorhome soon. I want it to be so quite that you can't hear it running. Maybe some turbo mufflers before therear wheels. Then resonators at the rear like my old Dart had.
Well on my way to becoming that eccentric old man in every town.(crazy as a s#@thouse rat) With a yard full of desireable old vehicles that tells you, Sorry they're not for sale..... Someday I'm going to fix them.
