Factory Power Assist Steering Help

I am in need of a hydraulic schematic for the factory style power assist unit for a 64 D100. The pump has been rebuilt along with the hydraulic ram. The shuttle valve assembly has been disassembled, inspected, and reassembled. No obvious wear or faulty o rings. It seems as though the power assist is...

Re: Parts truck wanted.

Glad you were able to get that truck. I looked at it quite a few years ago but did not really need it. The original sweptline bumper is a bonus!

Re: Steering box with different worm bearing adjuster?

My 62 W100 had that style box when i bought it. All my other trucks had the common other style. Maybe it is based on year? I bought a rebuilt steering box from "Buy Auto Parts" and had nothing but problems. The sector shaft (shaft coming out of the side of the box) bushing was so worn out on both bo...

Re: Can you ID the V8 engine in my 1961 W100?

Look on the side of the block for a series of numbers and check out this website for decoding: http://www.rosevillemoparts.com/referen ... mbers1.php

Most likely a 383 or 440 but could be others.

Re: engine swap

340's are great engines. I have a built 10.5:1 in my W100 and the later lower compression 340 in the W200. Both are Power Wagons. I have had my 340 as a daily driver and it is a lot more fun than a regular 318.

Re: Installed Utiline bed today and have bed to cab issue

I have had to replace the rubber mounts under the back of the cab. Is the cab close to rubbing on the frame next to the rear rubber mounts? I've used boat trailer rollers and have cut them down with a chop saw as replacements. If that doesn't solve the problem the bed mounts are too tall.

I believe these fit the 1965.5 and up trucks. Just put a set in a 1970 W100 with a factory LA318.

Re: 1964 fender DODGE emblem removal

Use a 3/8" open end wrench for the factory emblem nuts. There was originally a rubber flap between the cab and the fender that you have to pry back to get to get to the rear emblem nut. It's a little bit of a challenge.

Re: Turners auto wreckers Fresno

Was there three months back and they said they had no Dodges trucks in general. The Roadkill show was there a few months ago when they bought a 50s Chevy pickup and I didn't see anything that resembled a Sweptline in the episode.

Re: Anyone near Twin Falls ID?

Tim1159,
Dang I was gonna go after that truck you just bought. Any rust issues on it? Wanted to put a 4bt 5 speed in it. Looking for a '65-'71 short sweptline bed up there in the southern half of Idaho. I need the bed for another truck. Know of any?

Re: A Tale of 2 Transmissions

Thanks for clearing that up. I will have to double check with him again. That drawing definitely proves you correct. I figured it would be ridiculously loud with a straight cut fifth gear. :Thumbsup Once again sorry for my lack of knowledge on the 540s.

Re: A Tale of 2 Transmissions

Here is a chart for the gear ratios: http://cjford.stormloader.com/Tech/mantransinfo1.htm Sorry for the confusion on the gear types. The NP540 5th gear is a straight cut gear which I have been told by a reliable source and who has worked on many of the NP540 transmissions. It is much noisier (in 5th...

Re: A Tale of 2 Transmissions

The transmission sounds like a New Process (NP) 435. It has an aluminum top housing. 4th gear is 1:1 and 1st is somewhere in the 6.68:1 range if I remember correct. Some of the heavier duty trucks had a NP540 5 speed transmission. Most common was the NP540 with the direct 1:1 5th gear while there wh...
