Re: SOS need help
How long did the truck have no voltage regulator? Have you tried removing the regulator just long enough to see if it runs better and did it charge before the new regulator?

Re: aod tranny to 318 poly engine
Unless you want to deal with using the computer from the donor vehicle you want a 93 or earlier trans. The OD trans was optional in late 80's vehicles but I think became standard equipment in 1990. My dad had a B-250 conversion van[1990] with a 518 so there are a lot out there. Even if you buy a rem...

transmission interchange
I am selling my 70 longbed ute 318, np 435 but the buyer does not have any interest in the engine trans that came with the truck. How much trouble is involved with swapping the 70 4 speed into Dad's 63 d300. The 63 already has the 70 318 in it but still has the hydraulic clutch. Drive shaft problem?...

Re: power steering kit offered on Ebay
Looks like steering gear from a 70's 4wd rolled onto its side. I think this was discussed on this forum previously and would would have to be bled then rolled over and installed. For the money cpp unit would probably be easier, if it ever becomes available.

Re: w300 wheels
W300 wheels are all the same backspacing if the truck has dual rear wheels. It's done to make them interchangeable front to rear and inner or outer. Don't put a lot of effort into 17.5 inch wheels nobody makes tires for them anymore, at least thats what happened with my Dad's 63 W300. We found 16 in...

Re: The brakes went out,... the question is?
If your MC has pitts in the bore it will let fluid bleed around the seal until you jamb the petal. The quickly applied extra pressure causes the seal to contact the bore better and brakes apply harder than expected. Uncomfortable at 70 MPH.

Re: 1 ton disc brakes
Got everything hooked up today for the discs on the 63 1 ton and getting ready for a test drive. Is there normally a problem with pedal ratio when doing a power brake conversion? The brakes seem to require too much pedal movement for my liking. I used a master and booster for an 83 D350 since it wou...

Re: 1 ton disc brakes
Install the caliper bracket and slider then slide the hub and rotor on. Have to finish brake lines and mount booster and master. Hopefully finished this weekend.

Re: D300 rear brakes. Dually
You will see a ring of bolts around the end of the axle, remove these bolts and pull the axle out. Look in the end of the axle housing and you will see a large nut I don't remember the exact size but it's over 2 inchs. Before you remove the nut check to see if there is a locking washer with tabs ben...

Re: 1 ton disc brakes
Okay, got new urethane bushings in springs gotta run some new brake lines and then start on new kingpins. I'm a little worried about getting the new bushings in without damage. All suggestions are welcome. Can bushings be bought without buying the hole kit.

Brass, w/ball bearing. So I should not have to "drive" them in.

Re: 1 ton disc brakes
I have a sudden dislike for kingpins. Before installing the disc brakes We decided to put kingpins in the axle. I bought a reamer and kingpin set, my question is how much force[pressure?] should it take to slide the new pins in? Have not started on them yet, still cleaning.

Re: 1 ton disc brakes
Sorry that setup won't help you. After We got the hub and rotor on I thought it might be to long for your setup. I don't know what the hub on D-250 look like but will keep an eye out just in case. I will post pictures of the brackets for calipers. It is going to be very short.

Re: 1 ton disc brakes
I hope this helps. This hub may push your wheel out too far, maybe not. This is the only picture I have right now. Will start to fit brackets together next week and will post full info then.

Re: 1 ton disc brakes
I will post pictures as soon as I figure out how, back to that keyboard problem. I think 1/2 inch plate bolted to the back of the spindle will give me the correct clearance between the rotor and slider for the caliper. Then just have to position the slider and caliper for clearance and drill new bol...

Re: 1 ton disc brakes
Looks good Kurt. Glad to see someone else has attempted this axle. We went with the D350 hub as a shot in the dark, looks like it's going to work and will end up with braking system all off of the same truck. Probably a good thing considering the 5\8 lugs and flanged lugnuts on rear. How does your s...

Re: 1 ton disc brakes
Let's try this again. Tried to post update for some reason did not work. I'm better with a wrench than a keyboard. Decided to try 83 D350 hubs and rotors today. Fortunately the seals and bearings fit. The only problem was the distance between the bearings was shorter on the 83 rotor, could not take ...
