Re: Carb overhaul- UPDATE: I think the stromberg is smoked
I actually found a local guy that has experience with strombergs. He quoted me $90 to replace the throttle linkage bushing and flow test it. I'm gonna give that a swing, as this shop seems pretty legit. I'll keep you guys posted though.

Re: Carb overhaul- UPDATE: I think the stromberg is smoked
So, the carburetor itself wasn't particularly hard to overhaul. It kinda runs, but I found a problem that I don't see an effective way of fixing. Check the pic out, I found another leak around the throttle valves behind the linkage. I'm fairly sure there's a bushing back in there, but since the link...

Re: Carb overhaul- any tips and tricks?
Just got finished with my carb rebuild/getting that #$@**& points distributor dialed in!! I've got the fuel and timing in the ballpark, and she's running pretty damn good! Anyway I've got a bunch of pics, but I want to go drive. I'll start a thread in the build board later, I'm gonna go enjoy my swe...

Re: Carb overhaul- any tips and tricks?
Huh, that's good to know. When I took my engine down to the block I made a point of blowing down all the intake manifold ports, hopefully that took care of any potential problems on that end. Took the carb apart today, I'm letting it soak in solvents over night. Actually, I'm having a new problem. I...

Re: Carb overhaul- any tips and tricks?
Little tiny parts under spring pressure, duly noted. Thanks! I was looking at the exploded diagram, and I can already see a couple of potential escapees.PwrWgnDrvr wrote:#1 tip: DO NOT lose, or launch, the check balls or any tiny springs!

Carb overhaul- UPDATE: I think the stromberg is smoked
Title pretty much says it all, I'm going to do a gasket and seal replacement on my Stromberg WW 2bbl carb. I'm doing this because the thing was puking fuel from the upper and lower seals (not the seals where the carb mounts to the engine, replaced those earlier). I've got a kit courtesy of Mike's ca...

Re: Another FNG with a Swepty
Scrawltrawler and Spdcrazy, thanks for the info! I'll have to look into this guy in Kenai as I'll need a new tailgate sooner or later. Anyway, if I find anything in Anchorage I'll keep you guys posted as well.

Re: Another FNG with a Swepty
I've got four on the floor, it's nice and torque-y. Hate to say it, but I haven't gotten to poking at the trans or the differential gear yet. It's pretty strong though, when I was driving it went into gear every time with no complaints. I just got the engine all put back together, here's the "after"...

Another FNG with a Swepty
Hi everyone, Not sure if this is the right board, but I wanted to introduce my self real quick. My name's Doug, I'm from Anchorage AK, and I'm the proud owner of a 'new' '64 D200 with the 318 poly! I bought it a little under a month ago, and I've been working to get it back on the road ever since. I...
