Need a rear

My '62 D100 may be in need of another rear end. One of the brake drums is cracked and no one that I've talked to so far offers replacements. I have an 8-3/4 rear with 3:55s. Any suggestions?

Re: Mo' power

I don't think that's happening because the RPM drops too.

Re: Door lock

Seems to be an alignment issue inside the lock itself. I have to position the key just so before it gives.

Re: Mo' power

Well, being an Inliner I'd prefer to keep it a 6 but yes, I think another engine will be in it's future.

Re: Mo' power

The camper shell may be on the heavy side since it's insulated and about the same age as the truck. However, I am finding it useful so parting with it may be difficult. ;)

Re: Mo' power

The Slant has about 165k on it. I haven't done a compression test but I'm pretty sure it's getting tired. Thanks for all of the suggestions.

Re: Mo' power

I'm not sure what model of trans I have but it's definitely a 4 speed with the compound low. The rear gears, according to the tag are 3:55s. I have a Holley 350 cfm 2bbl that needs to be rebuilt. I could put that on there. The exhaust is stock. I'd like to get the Dutra Dual manifolds and run a comp...

Mo' power

Two weeks ago I made a road trip to Carson City, NV in the truck in a caravan with a few friends. As soon as I hit a grade I started slowing down. At a few points I had my foot on the floor and couldn't get past 35MPH. My truck is basically a stock D100 with a slant 6. It has an older camper shell o...

Re: Need Wheels for my new project

Mike, How do you find these things? That looks great. Not as great as the truck in your sig, but it looks great. I'm with you on going disc. I went with disc on the front of my truck and am about to go with a larger drum setup in the rears (from a '70 Superbee). I like original but, and because I l...

Re: Modern stereo volume drop

I want to try isolating the stereo from the aftermarket gauges. Does anyone have a recommendation on where to tap for an ignition-on only power source?

Tail light socket

My socket is cracked and doesn't always make a good connection. Is there a replacement out there or have you made something from another vehicle work?

Re: Modern stereo volume drop

Having a look at my wiring, the power for the stereo with the ignition switch on is connected to the black wire, according to my diagram is labeled L-1. This goes to one of the instrument cluster lights. I've since observed that when I turn on the wipers the aftermarket tach and oil pressure gauges ...

Re: Bye,Bye points

Buick drums were often put to use on Fords. Early Chevy heads found their way onto Model T blocks. All in the name of hot rodding, but I get your point. I've had good results with Pertronix on another car and I will put one on my truck eventually.

I got it all back together, spring first. I could have sworn the horn worked with the ignition off before. It's a'62, the way.
