Power Steering

Are most of the older power steering pumps similar in volume and pressure? With the cross over steering setup, I am using a gear box out of a GM truck, but i would like to use the pump off of a 68 Dodge Coronet that i have so that i don't have to build brackets to mount a GM pump. Are these two Comp...

Re: Big block opinions wanted

What about a 426? Might as well spend a lot more so you can say "Yeah, it's got a Hemi" :joker I would say the 383. They're just an all around better engine in my opinion. Almost as bulletproof as a 318, I have a 383 that had over 300,000 on it when rebuilt. Not to say it doesn't happen, but i've ne...

Re: Brake Conversion

Ben, that would be great. I work in a machine shop so i can probably find a piece leftover that will work, might be easier than shipping from Florida. If not, I will let you know. Thanks!

Re: Brake Conversion

you can buy stock steel or aluminum and make some spacers to space the booster out from the firewall. use this as an example: http://www.uglytruckling.com/Sweptline%20W%20Series%20Trucks/Sweptline%20W%20Series%20Boosted%20MC1.htm some flat stock aluminum would work best. just drill and tap or use c...

Re: Brake Conversion

John, no, the booster is for a 93 W350. It's the one that Surfnuke9 said to use. Did you try to get in touch with him on this?? John John, No, I was looking around here and seen that he had to cut his firewall to do it. I really, really don't want to cut anything on mine. It fits nicely mounted ups...

Re: Brake Conversion

Hi, When I did my Cummins swap into my W300 I converted to Hydroboost. It was easy and it bolted into the existing vaccuum booster holes. I got mine from an 81 or 84 (I can't remember) B350 "school bus" chassis and I am pretty sure that it is the same booster that is in the 94 to ??? Cummins trucks...

Re: Brake Conversion

No sarcastic comments from me. Booster wont care if its upside down as no liquids involved and as for the master cyl , Tilting it (as long as its not a lot) should not be an issue as long as you properly bleed it. Get a proportioning valve from a 70's and later (dodge/chev/furd) truck of similar we...

Re: Brake Conversion

Wish I could help. None of my Sweptlines have power brakes. :pale I know the '68 booster I have on the loose is different in that it has a stand off bracket to keep it clear of the hydraulic clutch master cylinder. Is your booster spec'd for your W200? John John, no, the booster is for a 93 W350. I...

Re: Brake Conversion

What, Is this a stupid question, poor choice of words, or is the answer blatantly obvious and i just don't get it? I expected at the very least, some kind of sarcastic response that the brakes would only work in reverse or something like that. Okay, in the booster there is only a plunger, diaphragm,...

Re: Where have all the good Junk Yards gone?

Okay, if I tell you guys my secret, please don't clean the place out until i get my truck done :joker In Ogden, Utah there is a "sweptline graveyard". The business is actually a welding/repair shop and i can't remember the name of it but the owners name is Ray Jensen. He is a very nice guy and he ha...

Brake Conversion

I swapped axles on my 71 W200, now has D60 up front and GM 14 bolt rear. Having some trouble with the master cylinder/power booster swap. I installed a Cardone 503360 booster and cylinder but it will not fit without cutting into the lip on the firewall (don't want to cut anything). I found that the ...

Did they put them in 69-71 d/w200s? Is it heavier duty than a 435? Thanks!

Re: Trans. identification/selection

Are they both New Process / Made For Dodge trannys? You might want to scrub them up thoroughly to see if there are any other stampings, plates, etc. present. You also might want to measure the overall case length to see if both tail shafts fall in the right position on your cross member too. :2cent...

Trans. identification/selection

I need some help figuring out which transmission to run, please. I have two and they are slightly different in appearance and i would like to know what the advantages or disadvantages of each is. I wouldn't care if it was a Pinto(okay, maybe that's a stretch) if it's something that you are working on to generate funds for a Sweptline, I think it deserves to be shown here and I am interested in seeing it. The Rat Rod guys always seem to come up with some very creative and interesting stuff an...

I highly recommend these guys, they should be able to get you almost anything you will ever need for drivetrain parts. I have bought many bolt & strap kits from them. I am sure they will have the seal as well. They are also really good at rebuilding or new custom built driveshafts. http://www.sixsta...

Re: Just starting the restoration

Just a suggestion, If you have any salvage yards in your area, look there. A lot of the small block Chrysler vehicles in the 80s had four barrel manifolds with a quadrajet carburetor. They have a lot of emission controls on them so you might have to plug some unnecessary lines but you should be able...

There are also quite a few fabricated cab repair panels on ebay created by a fellow member. I did a some work on my cab instead of finding a different cab because the cab itself has sentimental value to me.
