Re: Oil Bath Air Cleaner Question
Got the old girl fired up last night. I put a touch of gas down the carb (I hate doing that) and cranked it with the choke off. Fired right, sputtered for a bit and then ran like a top.

Re: Oil Bath Air Cleaner Question
Well, I got everything back together and now the truck won't start. Thinking I must have gotten some oil down the carb and fouled the plugs, I went ahead and changed the plugs (easy on a /6), still no start. Any ideas?

Re: Oil Bath Air Cleaner Question
I've never seen a reproduction. Mine is mostly gone also. The owners manual was no help at all. All it says is rinse in kersosene. After mine dried. I rinsed it again in Seafoam, rinsed with Marvel Mystery Oil, and then rinsed again with regular motor oil. The element is clean, but when I put it bac...

Re: Oil Bath Air Cleaner Question
Thanks. What kind of cleaning fluid do you use? I just rinsed mine very throughly with water and lots of dishwashing liquid, and then lots more water, like 20 minutes worth. It was amazing what all came out. Should I follow that with a dunking in kerosene? I want to keep the truck original, but this...

Oil Bath Air Cleaner Question
Is there any way to take the oil bath air cleaner apart to give the element a good cleaning or is it permanently housed in the top metal piece? I don't want to break it trying to pull it apart if it isn't made to come apart.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: /6 canister oil filter
I actually found some kit numbers over on a slant six site. They recommend the WIX 51076 Element and also the NAPAGold 1076 (made by Wix). The canister shouldn't be a headache. I'm going to try to stay with it.

/6 canister oil filter
My 1964 D100 with a /6 has the oil canister type of filter. I did a search here and found info on 318 canisters, but not much on slant sixes. Does anyone have the part number I need to replace the filter material inside the canister? Parts houses around here do a look up and hand me a screw on filte...

Re: wood bed
Original bed in my 64. I'm planning on spraying in some deck cleaner and then just putting a coat of Thompsons on it.

Re: Wheel covers
Well, I went to the trouble to sign up to a Desoto website to see if the folks over there knew anything about my wheel covers. The answer is........1954 Plymouth Savoy wheel covers.

Re: Wheel covers
Tried to close in on the center of the covers. My son has some 2004 OE Ranger 16" rims that have the same lug pattern as my 64. if the back spacing is OK, I'll probably switch to those and sell the 15" OE rims and wheel covers.

Wheel covers
Does anyone know if 1964 D100s' came with full wheel covers as an option. My Utiline came with a full set of covers like the one in the picture. Full wheel covers on a truck? Really?

Re: My new 64 Ute
Found it on CL. It's a local 2 owner (now 3 owner truck). I have the original title, dealership bill of sale ($2,343.71), warranty/service booklet and owners manual. It has a little over 101,000 documented miles on it. The 2nd owner bought the truck in 1999 and had a restoration done. The restoratio...
