Re: 440 exhaust manifold question
Its a 65 d200 Crew Cab, w/440/727 transplant. It was once belonging to Trey Malm about 9 years ago, before i lucked into it. And it seems like if a center dump works on the drivers side, it should work on the passenger side. I just wanted to make sure i wasn't buying into problems that more meticulo...

440 exhaust manifold question
Hello all, I have a cracked exhaust manifold, passenger side. Its 440 doner, bare stamp location but likely 1970's. I understand that the driver's side will be a center dump type manifold to clear the starter and keep heat away from the solenoid. Can the passenger side (my issue) use a center dump o...

HD instrument cluster
Hello all,
I saw some awesome restos of the HD instrument cluster in past posts.
So, for those who have been there, done that, are the holes for AMP, FUEL, TEMP, and OIL 2 1/16" or 2 5/8"?

Ammeter Questions
I'm looking to install a modern, shunted ammeter.
Most are rated a -60 thru +60 amps
Since i have a 65 amp alternator, can i safely use the aforementioned Ammeter?
Does it pull the max amps thru the meter, or only the drawn amps?
thanks all

Re: Radio Options
try these guys http://www.classiccarstereos.com once i realized i was unlikely to ever install a cd player in my dash again, i made a radio delete plate. then i made another plate with a cutout for the radio i got from these guys. this solved the hacked dashboard issue as well as the not having a ra...

Model 50 Heater insert
Hey All, Ive got a question i think I know the answer to, but ill run it by the forum for confirmation. I've got two model 86 heater boxes, one has the model 50 insert. Am i correct in that: A. the 50 is different in that it has a relocated resister coil for the "low" blower setting(?), and that B. ...

how universal is "universal"
hey all, I'd like to move my gas tank out of my cab and into the bed area, and have an accurate idea of my gas level. also i can a have a bit of secure storage behind the seat for a jack and tire iron et cetera. Since i'm still getting 5vdc to the temp meter, I'm sure only my gas gauge is toast. I'v...

Wiper Arms
Hello all. longtime reader and daily driver. there seems to be at least three styles of wiper arm, is this correct? there seems to be two different sized splined "nuts" with tapered interior splines, and third arm style that negates the use of these. also, straight arms with an angle adjuster, or pr...

Re: no back up light switch
I'm sure the problem is fixed by now, but i've heard that it's possible to install a pressure sensor in the transmission. specifically to the plumbing that engages the "reverse" gear. Is this possible or was i reading about somebody's super customized setup?

Re: Smoked Ammeter
Gas Gauge reads Full when full, but somewhere between 2/3rds and 1/2 a tank is the entire range from full to empty. in the space of two miles, it fell from F down to E. also the temp meter reads a little bit on the cold side, but this is summer in the south, so that can't be right either. So... new ...

Re: Power Assist Swap
I still have it, but sadly it blew. I haven't figured it out yet, but it was most likely oil loss. to the bottom end. sounds like a connecting rod. I'll keep it, to try to rebuild if possible, but its at the bottom of the list. Kids house maybe a new car school food trucks that run trucks that don't...

Re: Smoked Ammeter
Good call, dash was grounded, but the little voltage reducer for the gas gauge was not. One L bracket and some sandpaper later, the thermostat now reads properly. Gas gauge now reads empty instead of full, but may be correct, and the tank may really be empty. lets drive tooo far and find out the har...

Re: Smoked Ammeter
I popped out the inst. cluster and wirenutted the the ends togater. next is to pin down why my gas guage thinks its eternally full, and the thermostat pins on the H. first i'll try the grounds, and then i'll make sure the rubber boots are connected well, and third i'll make sure they aren't getting ...

Re: Power Assist Swap
Hey Trey, thanks for the info on the steering. I gather you took it of because it didn't work so good, or it went on a different truck. I got the assist parts from a 68, and those guys in ohio have quoted me about $1200 for a completely rebuilt power assist, all new everything. still, new baby girl ...
