I've got a 383 in my Dart that runs real nice in the 11's, but is kinda lumpy @ idle.
The cost of your project = $1500
Staying with mother MoPar = Priceless

Re: 62 D200-Fires but dies right away
So, would you agree that the cheapo inline filter that I installed just before the fuel pump will be sufficient? I never really thought of it (the glass filter) being a safety issue but now that you mention it, yeah, a small crack and I'd have a huge mess on my hands! I thought it was a neat old pa...

Re: WHY WON'T MY HORN ALWAYS WORK?
Check your engine to chassis ground. Make sure it is grounding the body as well as frame. Hope it helps.

Re: starting my engine for the first time
If this engine is new, you better make sure that EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING is correct before you start it up. After she fires, you need to keep it running @ 2500RPM for 20 minutes to break in the cam. Have a buddy there to help adjust things at initial startup because you can NOT shut it off....

Re: Engine ID casting number references??
Does it have an "X" cast in the block? If so it has a 4 bolt main and is indestructible. If not, it is a typical 318 but used in 3/4, 1 ton trucks and is semi-common. The last 2 digits indicate how many copies were made. I actually have the same block but cast in 85' w/o an X.

Different crossmembers?
Working on 69' 3/4 ton 2wd that was 383/727. I am putting in 318/727 but have no crossmember yet. What years are correct and is there a difference between BB and SB dimensions? I am gonna freshen up the original 383 but wanna drive it now. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Just checking in
New to the site but not to MoPar. Just picked another Sweptline, 69' LB 2wd. Originally 383/727 but gonna run 318/727 til I rebuild #'s matching drivetrain. Been lurking for a while, just registered and thought I should say hi.
