Resto shop - NW Montana and moving outward
It's been awhile since I've posted on the forums here. A couple of years ago I thought we'd be moving to Montana so I hauled our '67 D200 "Camper Special" to NW Montana. As fate would have it, we became stuck in Maryland. The project was pushed to the back burner as we moved and navigated some famil...

Re: Seat Frame Rust - What to do
I'd hit them with Metal Ready and POR-15.

Re: door replacement
My '67 doors sort of fit my '66 cab. I think they're going to need some tweaking.

Darn soft 1/2 ton suspensions
I loaded the parts truck on the car trailer today. My spongy Nissan Titan hunkered right down in the tail end. It sets about right pulling the Airstream, but I guess the Swepty is a little more nose heavy. If I were keeping the Titan, I'd bag the rear, but I had planned to sell it after the bi...

Re: NEW 67 D200 OWNER,BIG PRIOBLEMS.
Even if you don't know anything about your truck, pick up a shop manual (a real shop manual, not a Chilton's or Hayne's) and read a bit. I have a D200 Camper Special project truck ('66 cab with a mix of '67 and '68 parts) and a '67 D200 Camper Special parts truck. There are a few odd things about th...

Thanks, Carlisle
I couldn't make the trip to Carlisle due to other commitments, but a Swepty pal scored an OEM cast, 4 bbl poly intake for me. Giddyup! I can toss the intake in the back of the D200 (which is headed west on the car trailer in a few weeks) and worry about getting it tanked later. I probably didn't nee...

Re: Painting in primer
I'm from Montana originally. Everyone in my family is still there. While I wouldn't mind retiring there, I have another 20 years to work before I can hang up my spurs. I have property in Montana and have access to shop space to store the D200. We're timing our move for next year--if the '67 Airstrea...

Floor pan
Here's a picture of the new floor pan. I called a local guy to mig weld the pans in. He said I ought to rivet the pan in place so it won't warp when he welds it. Given my Airstream project, I have a ton of rivets. I can't weld for crap nor do I have a buzz box in the shop. So... are the rivets overk...

Bed liner for inner fender walls
I have the front fenders pulled. Instead of straight primer/paint, I was thinking about using bedliner for the inner fender and maybe the top. I figure the extra density would quiet the road noise some and the liner might not chip as easily on gravel roads. Anyone done this?

Re: Painting in primer
I've got some parts bead blasted and ready to prime, but I don't have the time or the skills to do the body work. I need to wrap up my project truck and get it ready to haul by the end of July. I'm going to shoot everything with primer (maybe POR-15) and then hit it with a coat or two of gray tracto...

If you're not pick about a color, I use tractor/implement paint. It's cheap, tough and cheap.

Re: Front fender removal
Staying on the passenger side, I tried to get a picture of the round mounting surface on the inner firewall. You can see the oval rubber flap where the cowl drains (supposedly). You can also see the heater hoses as a point of reference. The hood hinge has been removed.

Re: Front fender removal
Moving to the passenger side, this is a picture of the fender brace rod. You can see the ugly rot where the double bolts attach the fender to the bottom of the cab.
