Re: Re-wiring
Keep us posted please. I also have a 61, and have been seriously thinking of doing a complete re-wire as well, but I’m not sold on the idea yet.

Weekend Project
Haven’t had much time to work on the Ute in the last... year or two!! Dangit, hard to believe it’s been that long already. Anyways, I am slowly getting things moving again, still a ton of work to do! Figured I’d get the old wood out of the bed, after all my half day weekend was all free of other thi...

Re: Gauge Cluster
I’m a little late to the party here but I just found a picture of mine. I took the entire thing out and cleaned it! Took a ton of scrubbing but it looks SO much better now!

Re: Clutch
HR is great! I bought one from them for my 61 UTE.
They sent the wrong one first, but one phone call solved the problem. Come to think of it, wow, I still need to send the wrong one back to them! Oops! 2 years later!

Re: My 61 Ute, Lots Of Problems!
Thank all of you for all the great info! Proving to be invaluable!! I am making progress every day, head lights were shorting out because of all the spider webs, and eggs and just dirt and crap inside one of the plugs. Tail lights now work, blinkers are good to go, and now I just need to figure out ...

Re: My 61 Ute, Lots Of Problems!
I'm almost positive that mine was changed at some point. The amber lenses on my truck are most certainly not original to the truck. There are extra holes drilled into the bezels in order to accommodate the amber lenses. I can see the 2 stock holes that would have been in the truck to begin with, and...

Re: My 61 Ute, Lots Of Problems!
Ok folks, next question! I crawled up under the truck, found my problem with the tail lights. The cross member in the rear, where the shocks mount was basically destroyed! The rivets were blown out and the cross member was bouncing for god knows how long. That of course was bouncing up and down on t...

Re: Brake Light Switch
Well. I should have looked more before I posted this. I found my old master cylinder, sure enough, there is a hydrolic switch, on the end of it. I did a disk brake conversion on the front of the truck, now there is a two chamber master on the truck and there is no switch, nor a place to put one. Now...

Looked around some more, might be a hydrolic switch? But I can't be sure?

Brake Light Switch
Ok, next problem. I got my tail lights....Mounted. I bought some really nice LED lights a couple years ago and really wanted to use them, so after some butchering of the original housings, they are in and on and I think they look really nice. Tail1.JPG The wiring to the tail lights has been rigged s...

Re: My 61 Ute, Lots Of Problems!
Thanks John, I have the diagram, however it seems that it might not be completely accurate? But then again there's also the possibility that someone really messed up some serious stuff!! According to the diagram there are 4 wires coming out of the high beam switch, well the red wire that comes out o...

My 61 Ute, Lots Of Problems!
Been going at it pretty hard the last few days, have even gotten a few things accomplished! Got the cab light working, and even found the rat chewed wire that goes to the fuel gauge. After fixing that I felt great! The guard still works! Great feeling! Then started working on the tail lights, that's...

The 61 Ute, 3 years later
It's been A LONG time, but I've finally gotten back home, and gotten back to work on the Ute. Some of you might remember it, I've posted a few pictures before. IMG_2354.JPG That's what she looked like after the first bath, and before anything really got done. Have a fresh built 318 now, transmission...

Re: orange paint jobs
I just did this on Monday and Tuesday, used some rattle cans of plastic paint just so that I can see what it looks like.
So far I really like what it could be when it's all done.

Seems as though I have a new problem now? Yesterday everything was fine, got all the front lights working, then started tracing down the back lights. Called it a night, thanks to all the beer, well now today go back out and I have no power? All of a sudden, nothing works? WTH?? :banghead Baby steps....

Re: 61 D100 Headlight Fuse
Thanks Kurt!!
I printed that diagram out and was using it to track down what was missing, but didn't even see the 10A!!! Maybe I should drink less beer while working on the truck???
Naw!
Thanks again!

Re: 61 D100 Headlight Fuse
Only thing I know is that the fuse in set into the switch is the only fuse in the truck! No fuse box, no relays no nothing. Just the one single fuse in the switch. Turned them on, with one light hooked up, plugged in the second light and the fuse popped. Popped in a 7.5, and two lights worked. Switc...

61 D100 Headlight Fuse
Anyone know what size the fuse should be? Fried a 5, and and 7.5. Took a 5 amp out that was shot, but don't know what size it should be? Don't want to fry anything else so I figured I'd ask.
Thanks in advance!

Graffiti Cruise
It must be Summer time again! Love this time of year! Some of y'all may remember, Modesto as the location of the American Graffiti movie, and every year here in Modesto they celebrate it with a nice weekend of cool cars. Only got to see two Swepty's on the entire cruise, and didn't get great picture...
