Re: individual leaf spring removal in truck?

Ha! Success! I got the springs apart, removed 3 leafs, got them buttoned back up and WOW does it look great! The drop is around 2'' as measured from the top of the tire to the bottom of the fender lip. Actually looks like more. Really put it on a rake! Drove the truck around the block and didn't not...

Re: individual leaf spring removal in truck?

OK. Confession: I am an idiot. I have been attempting to take the center pin out thru the top of the springs. When I took the nut off and the two clamps, yep! They really did fall apart! Thanks! Glad I asked before I broke something.

Re: MPG

Interesting. I recently checked mine and it was slightly better than 11 mpg around town and 13 on the highway. The truck is a 1970 D100 shortbed 2WD automatic with 3.23 gears. I've done only a basic tune-up. I'm sure the carb could use a re-build (or maybe an upgrade! ). I must admit that I'm enjoyi...

Re: ONE WIRE ALTERNATOR

...if you are talking about a late true one wire alt, with no field wire, all the old field wires no longer are used and may be just wrapped up. If you are installing a late type one wire alt (were the voltage reg is built in) you need to upgrade your primary feed wire from the alt to the battery t...

ONE WIRE ALTERNATOR

Did a search but didn't find what I was looking for. Question: If I install a one-wire alternator on a 1970 D100, what needs to be done with the existing / leftover wiring from the old alternator to the regulator and beyond? Is it simply disconnected or does some of it have to be re-used / re-routed...

I have one of those, too. I'll try it out this weekend and get back to you. Thanks!

Re: NO START WITH KEY

Also, one thing you might try would be running a jumper wire from the + battery terminal to the + coil terminal, temporary of course. Once that's connected try to start the truck. I agree you might have a bad bulkhead connector, but it might also be in the switch. The start position partially faile...

That's a very common area for electrical problems.
OK. How do I check them? Do the connectors just pull straight out of the bulk head? Clean'em and plug'em back in? Thanks.

NO START WITH KEY

I've searched the forums but haven't found exactly what I was looking for so I'm going to start a thread specific to my problem. Thanks in advance for any and all help. I have a 1970 Dodge D100 that I got back in May. Worked thru some small stuff to get it running but now I'm hung up. New starter, n...

Re: Fan blade failure, never seen this happen before

any missing cats? :pale You know, I thought of that, too. When I was little my Dad worked late nites some times and, after he came home, when the weather was cold, the cat would climb up in the fan shroud where it was warm. Mom learned real quick to bump on the hood with her fist a couple of times ...

Re: Dropped Spindle Interest?

Our very own scarebird has a disc brake swap kit that he sells on Ebay. Check it out. He also has his own website @ http://scarebird.com or something like that.

Re: Dropped Spindle Interest?

That's a great idea! If he can make them to be reliable and safe and relatively inexpensive I would think there would be a substantial market for them. I know I'd like to have a set. Nothing drastic. A two inch drop or maybe three, at the most.

Re: 1970 radiator blues

Just to put a period on this...Scott sent me a set of tranny lines in very good condition and I hope to get them installed over the holiday weekend. Thanks, Scott. And Thanks to all who offered help. I can highly recommend doing business with Scott and I'm sure I'll be doing so again soon.

Re: 1970 radiator blues

Thanks, Scott. I think I have found one locally. I'm gonna take it home tonite and see if it will work. I did send you an e-mail about the trans cooler lines. The ones on my truck are pretty well hashed. Thanks again.

Re: 1970 radiator blues

Thanks, guys. I'll look at the parts store today or tomorrow and see what I can find. As long as the inlet/outlet are on the correct side and I can hook up the automatic trans lines, I can deal with adapting the mounting bolts.

1970 radiator blues

Hello, all. New guy here. I'm looking at a 1970 D100 with automatic transmission. It's in pretty good shape and I can get a really good deal on it. BUT...the radiator has been replaced by a, shall we say, non-original, unit with miles of flex hose to hook it up. I've done some research and there doe...
